One of the best things to do IS to remove the under bonnet padding. You are suffering from residual heat build up, which on a four is a bad thing. Try to get as much air flow into the engine bay as you can, and let the heat in there disperse.
A front mount is the way to go though, it'll solve all your problems with heat build up. Thats what is going into my 185 when it's fully re-built and breathing fire ! A little birdie told me that the Intercooler from an iveco van is the correct size for the ST-205. Available on e-bay for arond £30 uk pounds ! Try and find one cheaper that'll fit, bet you cant !? Good luck, Andy... |

hmmm thanks andy
i know about the IVECO coolers but there rear in moscow as for stripping out the insulation, yet i'm gonna go for it......... what make me still smile is when i sit in a jam, the heat in the engine bay sets of warming light on the dash of thing that are disconected....... i'm thinking of putting a big ol fan in the front on a manual override switch for the summer............... -------------------- ![]() Life is for living, and you don't get a second chance Take care now !! |

so the GT4 hoods have a water trap or no? I know you all said that a little water in the engine wont hurt... but just curious what those vents look like up close...
I am interested in getting a zyclone cf hood... just hoping to get an idea how those vents are made and work.. -------------------- ~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207

No water trap. Turbo/exhaust manifold under the vent. Water doesn't last long.

i had a water trap, that had a run off gullly to the front.......
i've striped it out for the summer but will replace it come winter..... i don't care what you guy's say a thick layer of snow at -20 is not good condition to start a turbo working in, in my opinion !!!! but as for rain, i don't think the water even touches the engine when it's running -------------------- ![]() Life is for living, and you don't get a second chance Take care now !! |
