Dropping car with 18's, How far can I go down? Options

I'm planning on buying Ground Control coilovers for my 97 ST. I have 18X7's on and the tire size I have is 215/40/18. Does anyone know how far down I can drop it without rubbing? I just want to fill up that extra little space in my wheelwells.

you can do 1.5 Inch drop easily with no problem....

and about your tires... well... you need 205/35/18

you posted 215/40/18 and that's too big....

and it will **** up your speedometer!!!

I know my speedometer is messed up because of the tire size. But will that width effect it in any way when I drop it.
