I just spoke to my neighbor. He told me he was selling a T4 Garret turbo for $300. He bought it from a guy with an IS300. My neighbor has a new Altima and was going to put it on there but he decided to take dents out and paint the car instead so he needs money. My question is, is there such thing as a T4 Garret turbo. I saw that it said "Garret" on it but I didn't pay attention to anything else it said on there. It looked like it was in great condition and the turbo was silver and it had another piece attached to it that was like brownish. So the silver part had a turbine wheel thing and the bronish part had another turbine wheel thing on the other side. I don't know smack about turbos and it appeared that he wasn't sure what it was either but he said it wasn't hybrid. Any help as to what type of turbo this is exactly? Thanks.

EDIT: Also, the brownigh part, which I think connects to the manifold had like 2 slots. If that makes a difference.

well, have you ever heard of a t3/t4 hybrid? I would think that they wouldn't be able to make a t3/t4 hybrid without their being a t4.

Soo, I'm pretty sure there is such thing as a t4

Yes, there is. The compressor is huge for a 1.6 liter engine and very large for a 2.2. My guess is that the thing would spool at about 5500 RPM's on your ST (depending on trim and A/R). Not very streetable IMO but maybe suitable if you were using it for a drag application.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

it exists, but like J said, spool up time is too slow for street. Usually good for larger motors.

Yeah, the ST has a 62xx RPM redline...by the time you spool that thing up, you'll be redlining, hehe.
