i was getting gas one day, and for some reason when i started up my car, i went to first, but something was wrong by the way it felt. It didnt go straight, it kinda went to the left and when i go from 1st to 2nd, theres a bump between the gears and it feels like it kinda grinds as i go into 2nd, its also hard to get to cuz i cant pull straight back, have to pull it a certain way for it to get into 2nd or it gets stuck in the middle. All the gears just all of a sudden are really stiff and feel dry, as in no lubrication. 3rd gear doest click into place, it just kinda roughly slides into it, whats goin on here? i just got a new transmission also.

um, do you have any transmission oil in your trans any more? check that.

and there is a slight bump from first to second on my trans, thats the locking plate keeping morons from downshifting to first while going faster then 10mph.

no, the bump is when i try to go from first to 2nd, i never downshift to 1st, dont wanna hurt my gearbox, and if i dont go around the bump i cant get into 2nd, but i will check to see if there is any fluid in the tranny but i thought that since they put it in they would put new fluid in it, be kinda stupid not to and not tell me. How do i check the tranny fluid?

There is a drain bolt on the side of the tranny, open it up and you should feel the gear oil right below it.

Sorry to go offtopic. But is it possible to remove the locking plate. Find it very annoying when braking for a traffic light and have to wait to stick it in 1st.

You don't want to do that bc first does not have syncros; you'll grind, and it puts alot of stress on the tranny.

I want to remove the locking plate too, but I never downshift to first, I just hold in the clutch and shift to first at stop signs and lights.
