i plug mp3 player in, the pc installs the software, then the mp3 player continues to display "reading" making the pc lock up until the player is disconnected. about 1 in 100 times (seriously) the mp3 player will read "ready" and allow me to add/remove songs as i please. what should i check out? oh, i have a HP a23n pc and a Nextwave tw-f128 mp3 player.

firewire, usb1.1 or 2.0? Make sure you have the right software. Has this always happened or did it just start? what os? try it on a different computer if you can to see if its a problem with the mp3 player of your hardware/software.

go to the mp3 player company website, and update the software if you can, that would help.

the requirement says full speed usb, so i am just using my usb 2.0 port. in the instructions it says the only way to install it is by plug and play. it has always happened. windows xp. i tried it on my friend's pc who has the same model (hp a230n) and it did the same thing as mine. i tried on my other friend's pc (dell), and it worked perfect.

EDIT: just found a topic i created in april of '04.

donno man, make sure you have all the windows updates... I'd email the manufacturer though, there might be a patch or something.
