QUOTE (JWalk1818 @ Nov 14 2002, 11:54 PM) How so cheap? ![]() One LED ring with inside stop or turn signal cost (in HELLA shop) about 40$. So 6 lamps 240$. And in our country body work is kinda cheap. Everything (including painting, paint, form making, filling, primering) will cost me about 100$. So... Is it bad? Or what? -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

QUOTE this may sound wierd but why not do a 3rd gen RX7 j-spec tail light conversion i think those would look more unique and bolder then the supra lights This wouldn't work... You would have to cut into the trunk lid to make this mod work and after about 3 months of closing your trunk the lights would be cracked.... Body flex is a bitch! As for the Supra conversion that just looks like crap tucked into the back of a Celica. Don't get me wrong I love the way a Supra looks... That's why I drive a Celica (poor mans supra).... But I would NEVER put supra lights on a Celica. As for the conversion origanally posted it reminds me of a 1950's ass end. I think the s2000 conversion has a little potential. -------------------- ![]() 99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =) |

Now the Supra tails are sweet, they definitely look better than the ghetto clear tails 6g owners manufacture themselves (no offence to those who have made them!!). Has anyone taken a different approach to constructing their own?? Mine are still in the process, but so far I have a clear outside shell w/ 4 red, rounded, 80-count LED's displays (they use them on 18 wheelers here) that look quite similar to the Supra's, but they will differ in the fact that they will wrap the rest of the way around. Then I'm going to have clear/white smoked round reflectors on the inside.....((RED-RED-CLEAR-----CLEAR-RED-RED)) with clear amber signals on the outsides. All I really have left is to secure the bulb sockets and make sure there's no loose light scattering. Anybody attempted something similar??

If you just can't break bread for the Supra taillight conversion, or you don't really care for' em, take a gander at this link: http://www.partssystems.com/shop/products....ry_id=LED%20STT. This is just one of the companies that produces LED's for your automotive desires. I'm in the process of doing something quite similar right now as I posted earlier and it's fairly less time consuming and less hassle than the Supra conversion. Also on the positive side, you can customize it however you like. This site has 44-56 count LED displays which are pretty good, but the one's I used are 80 count. Enjoy!!

My friend matched the supra rear bumper to the trunk lid. Trimmed the lid to fit the lights. Welded plates on each side and strap the bumper to the welded plate. Then he welded plates underneath where the lid was trimmed...to patch the gap. Paid him $600....thats including patching my dings and shaved side markers. -------------------- ![]() |
