Monday I went into the office and opened up my email to find out that Janet (the receptionist I work with) was not going to be coming in cuz her mother was close to dying. so for the week I was on my own at hte front desk. She called a couple times thru the week to give me an update on her mom and then one phoen call she asked what my fave color was out of the ones she listed. I told her pink...I thougth she had got me a shot glass but when she came back on friday she todl me that right now was a hard time for her and doing something for me made her happy. So she pulls out a mini IPOD and says she got it for me! I was like OMG i cant believe she thought of me while her mother passed away this week and then she gets me an IPOD!!

it almost makes me not wanna leave my job - not cuz i got a gift but because I love working with her! shes so nice and reminds me of my grandma!

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

There is nothing to feel guilty about. People buy gifts for others because THEY want to. The act of giving is a way of expressing their appreciation, kindness, feelings, etc. Showing how excited you were and saying "thank you" was exactly what she needed.... To reject a gift in that situation would be insensitve. If you really want to make her day send her a thank you note. Then, send her another in about a month telling her how much you enjoy it.

I have always been very self sufficient and have appreciated the fact that I have made it where I am today pretty much through my own hard work. When I was younger, my pride would sometimes get in the way when someone would try to give me a gift. One day, my mother told me "Jay, sometimes you should just shut up and say 'thank you'." In hindsight, I know that was great advice.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

I dont think I could have taken it (I dont know her so maybe I would have if I did) but either way thats a very nice offer, I think I would not be thinking of anything if my mom was sick or dieing, I would probilby be just driving around crying or something.

I can't believe some of you are saying you don't think you'd be able to accept the gift. That's so insensitive. She wasn't obligated to get it. She did cause she wanted to. It made her feel better. To refuse it would be inconsiderate and hurtful to her. It probably would have made her feel even worse about her moms death instead of trying to do things that make her happy. Sometimes people amaze me with their lack of understanding and sensitivity. rolleyes.gif

I'm glad you enjoy the gift BlackCelicaGT94. I would kill for an Ipod. Sadly, being infatuated with cars = no $$$. biggrin.gif

this is what she said to me before she gave it ot me

"natalie u have to understand that right now is a very hard time for me..but doing something for you makes me happy"

so she did just that! and she knows ive wanted one for a long time!

plus im now flying to RENO with her in two weeks and pickign up her moms stuff and driving a uhaul back with her!

so its not like just some chick! were both receptionists and work together each day
