"I hate the way they portray us in the media.

"If you see a black family it says they are looting if you see a white family it says they are looking for food.

"And you know that it’s been 5 days because most of the people are black and even for me to complain … I would be a hypocrite because I would turn away from the TV because it’s too hard to watch. I’ve even been shopping before giving a donation and so right now I’m calling my business manager what is the biggest amount I can give.

LOL! Kanye West is the most ignorant person alive. Hurricane Katrina and it's effect on the New Orleans area is simply the largest national disaster that the United States has ever dealt with. It is not solely decided by the president who is sent to help in these situations. Most of it is handled by FEMA. The Director of FEMA is the one that has made the mistakes if anyone has.
Does West realize the scope of this disaster? The hurricane was the size of Florida for God's sake. This simple-minded person cannot even begin to comprehend the resources that will be required for the relief efforts.
To say that the media portrays blacks in a negative way is dumb. If you see someone coming out of a store with a cart full of electronics when there isn't even any electricity they are going to be labeled as looters. Bags of shoes and clothes are not essential to survival either. It's not the media's fault that they are out there in the middle of the day knowingly robbing stores while cameras catch their every move. New Orleans has a very high African American population which, whether he wants to believe or not, is for the most part poverty stricken. Of course they'll be out there looting. It's like Christmas in the Fukcing ghetto.
And before anyone starts in about how they censored his comments from the West coast Re-broadcast and how it's a violation of his free speech (large debate on a local radio station). You have to think about the networks liability. Free speech doesn't even apply to network television. The networks owners and sponsors have final say over what is allowed to be aired.

People who hate bush dont understand how hard it is to be a president and make the decesions he makes. the debt is high because of the war cost and now its gonna go up more to help out the people from katrina. the government has also given money to other country disaters and other misc stuff that has happned here. Just because it wasnt on the news doesnt mean its not happening. what about the sick ppl raping and beating kids during this. you wanna blame bush for them doing that too? give me a freggin break, if you wanna help out then go there and lend a hand. stop bashing bush and bash yourself for not lending a hand before any of this happened. do you donate your time to help someone else out, if we all helped each other out and stop being mean to others, we actually might be a nice nation. why do you think we have debts in our states and as a country because everyone wants the government to handle it, why wait for the government, you can help out anytime you want but do you?

why are we even wasting our time even reading anything Kanye West has to say? The man runs around with angel wings and thinks he's Jesus because he got shot. Half the rappers in this country have been shot. I believe it's a requirement. In order to make an unheard of amount of money and talk really fast you must be shot. I personally think he should shut his mouth and donate some of his money. Ever watch cribs? These morons have more money then they know what to do with, how about you donate some of it? EDIT: It just amazes me that someone like that can go on a program to help raise money and make it into some far left political speach... yea, he just caused about 80% of the people watching to turn the channel...

Wow, WannabeGT4 and LewFX, you guys are awesome. It's so encouraging to actually find people that know what they’re talking about when it comes to government and politics. I run into SO many people who like to bitch about Bush, and bitch about the way the governments being run, but when you actually talk to them, they don’t even know what powers the executive branch even has, or what the government really has power over, as opposed to what’s just bureaucracy. If anyone links hurricane Katrina and their dislike of Bush into the same paragraph, it just shows how bias they are, and that their opinion can’t be counted on. When I first started reading the whole thing about what Kayne West said, I thought you were going to support it, and I was about to be disgusted.

Just the other day I was thinking about how it might be fun to have a few conversations about politics and government on the site. Conversations, mind you, not arguments. So it’s nice to know there’s at least a few intelligent, coherent, individuals on here. Who would have guessed there could be on a car forum…

you know, I really respect your knowledge of cars, but I think you don't know what your talking about when it comes to this. Comments like "but he's not doing his best at it" prove that. What do you think he, can and should do. The president is not head of the Red Cross...

if you want to bitch about things not getting done that you think should be done, don't blame the president. He doesn't call all the shots like it seems you think. Blame bureaucracy or the help organizations involved.

i never said runing a country is any easy job.. might be the hardest job in the world. i don't feel bush is doing the best job he can do. thats from what i have seen around me while he has been in office... i know its not all bush's fault cause he does have alot of people around him giving him bad advise. as a person that has studied government my opinion on bush is he is not a ever good persident compered to the the last 3 persedents before him..

I actually do agree that the gov is too large to respond quickly. This, however, is not the case in regards to the hurricane. Bush declared a disaster area before the hurricane. That put the ball in the cort of the state gov. In other words, they would get whatever they asked for. the problem was that they didnt' ask for anything until it was too late.

My only problem with bush's actions is that he didn't realize that the state government was inept. He should have taken the proper steps in light of the idiocy of the local gov.

FallenHero's right. Except that it's not the presidents job to play nurse maid for inept local and state governments. That's why we have a fereral system of government. It seems to me that Bush would be the last person to blame for this...

Thats why I said most people like to point fingers, but don't really know what they're talking about...
