Bent Rim!, how i fixed the problem Options

so the other day i was washing my car and i notice the front passanger rim was bent. When and how it got like that i have no idea, and i also had no idea how to fix it, and no money to take it somewhere to get it fixed. (btw, i have gunmetal rims with chrome lip, and the lip was the part of the rim that was bent).
but n e way, so i remembered that my brother had gotten in a car accident bout a month ago, and his rim got bent a lil bit. After talking to him he suggested i try fixin it with a rubber hammer, cause thats how he fixed his and it came out like new.

im probably going to get flammed for the way i fixed it, but it actually worked.

i tried a rubber hammer, but i just wasnt working, the rubber hammer actually broke by the 8th time i hit the rim with it.
so then i just decided to use a regular hammer, although i knew the rim was going to look busted, but oh well.., so i used a regular hammer and got the lip back to its original place, but now i just had a whole bunch of marks all over that part of the lip. the only way i thought of how to take all those off was by wet sanding (started off with 600, then 1000 grit, then 2000). And it actually worked, after wet sanding the marks off, i took Mothers chrom polish and the new Mothers power ball and polished the rim..and to my disbelief..LIKE NEW!! you cant even tell the rim was even bent in the first place, and there are no marks whatsoever, and the chrom didnt get messed up.
I dont know wether it was the right way to fix a rim or not, but at least it worked, so if any of yall have the same problem, i do suggest doing what i did.
.....just thought id share my story..(ok now, yall can start flammin me for being stupid and takin the risk of fixin it on my own not knowin what i was doing, and also doing what prolly was a stupid way.)
