Today is my first day off and I went right to work. I did a crude splice just to test my theories on EA1 pin 4 and pin 17 being spliced together. I plugged the fuse box back together and plugged the ECU connectors back into the ECU. I connected the battery and put the charger on boost and plugged that in also. I climbed in and crossed my fingers. I turned the key one click. The dash lit up like I remembered. I turned it to the next position. The engine light, oil light, etc. all came on like normal and after about 4 seconds they went out. I thought to myself, "hmmm, good sign so far". I turned the key one spot further to start. NO HESITATION AT ALL!!!!! (and I'm sure it was flooded).

It fired up on the first try!
I can now be added to the COMPLETE list!!!!!
just have to go back and redo that splice, put in the axles and connect the tail pipe.

no exhaust yet, it dumps from the header.
AND NO ERROR CODES COME UP!!!

WOOOO-HOOOO!!!!!

Things left to do:

1. (done)put axles back in place.
2. (done)put plastic back onto bottom of engine bay.
3. (done)look into tach problems, the 1994 tach does not work with the BEAMS motor.
4. (done) go to a muffler shop to tie the exhaust in.

It's on the road.

Since my background is avionics, I am doing a system by system check to confirm no problems.

ABS
- working ok.

Power steering
- working ok ( still missing 2 vacuum lines on the pump and have no idea what they were for).

Air Conditioning
- working ok.
- one line is VERY close to the header(1/2 inch) and will have to be tie-wrapped back out of the way. I am concerned that it might catch fire.

Tach
- I took my guages out and compared both sets of guages. The plastic circuit card on the back is wired very differently on the BEAMS guages. I noticed that the guages themselves are held in place with long screws and that also seems to be the electrical connection. Each screw has an abreviated name beside it. Both guages have the same abreviations. hhhhmmmmm. I wonder if........
I pulled tach from the BEAMS pack and swapped out with the one in my 94 guages.
IT WORKS!!!
I have no pictures of the guages yet as I did not have my camera when I did this.
I will take the guages out later and take pictures.

Cooling fans
- with A/C running both fans turn on. I have yet to get the fans to turn on without the A/C. I believe this is due to the fact the the engine temps are very low and it might not be needed. It is a concern because when I pop the hood it smells very hot like something about to burn. The smell also might just be due to a header that I never had before, not sure. Maybe it's the A/C line getting very hot. must explore more.
