as long as they do there job whats the difference if u paid 40 bucks for a cheap bosch unit or 200 or w/e the cost is for the greddy or say the HKS valve. just so the valve reacts fast enough for your boost levels it doesnt matter who makes it.

eh,
i ACTUALLY HAVE EXPERIENCE with the knock offs......sumthing tells me celicast3sgte does not......

just look at them side by side, we did this at the latest meet, my ssqv look alike compared to a real ssqv (HKS) they look THE SAME the only physical difference is the color of one piece.....now down to the real things

i supplied my team mate with an SRT4 running in excess of 20psi daily a knock off SSQV bov.....mounting flage = the same...size = the same.....everything you need to do to mount them = the same......

performance - WORKS like a DREAM.......you can not notice ANY difference between the two......hooked it up and started the motor.......rev'd it up classic HKS ssqv sound, and inspected it for functionality, performed great put my hand next to the outlet, air came out just and smooth and nice as it should...........

on the GREDDY TYPE S knock off i gave it to my little sister to give to her boy friend to install on a MAZDA RX8 TURBO.......no complaints there either.........

they are fine in all aspects and have proven to work in both my cases.......i have one more sitting on my desk that will go onto my 1.8T jetta and then onto my celica......

i personaly suggest getting in contact with RYU on this site and having him provide you with either HKS style or GREDDY style

you can buy one and take it apart. i know ryu did this with the real vs fake hks and it was the same thing. the thing we all forget is that car parts with a brand name get a huge mark up. its just a few bolts and some aluminum inside, so what are we paying over 200$ for?

the only good thing about the real greddy and hks is that they have a great reputation and a huge install base. so you know you are buying something that probably wont have any defects when you pop it on.

The only difference is the quality of parts/possible problems.

The knockoffs dont do the job any differently, they're just made of (Well, most of the time made of) less quality parts, crap warrenties, and they don't have a reputation.

You might start getting weird behavior out of your turbo is the BoV starts messing because a part of it wasn't made up to par.. but *shrug*

Think of it like a pair of speakers. They're all pretty much the exact same, and if you took apart two different brands you'd be hardpressed to tell the difference, because they both function the same. it's the little things like materials, etc.

But a brand name BoV isn't going to make your car faster or anything.

well dont you have to take in consideration the name on the side of item. its like cloths if you took a tommy emblem off a shirt and it is devalued but they can sell those shirts or pants for 50 bucks a pop and more but you can find a no name brand or a non exposed brand looks identical for 10 bucks so personally i look at is the name makes it more expensive. so i think i am not going to worry about a name brand because even if it messes up then u can buy 3 or for for the price of 1 name brand so it doesnt really matter. but turbos dont have to have a bov do they ????

Nope, they don't. You could just let it backflow into the turbo and destroy the turbo biggrin.gif

I do have experience with a knock off, i have both the greddy type RS (real) and greddy STYLE RS ive ran both on 14psi Talon no issues with either. the knock off is currently installed but I would not recommend this to another member because of the fact that cheap parts are because of cheap quality control. which I would not want to recommend a bad part. THEY DO WORK but NOT guaranteed.
