Standalone ecu or 3sgte ecu matching the head (2nd or 3rd gen) you also missed the intake manifold, AFM(stock ecu), MAP (standalone), turbo timer to keep the turbo happy, oil/coolant lines, motor mounts, new flywheel, 3s pressure plate 5s friction disc, etc... im sure ive missed parts

It would not be worth it. Getting a built block and head to flow correctly with a pea shooter turbo is going to be hard. You will have boost creep like crazy unless you had a restrictive exhaust (which would kind of defeat the purpose of the built engine). In addition, the cams and headwork will not allow the stock ECU to perform correctly so you will need some sort of fuel tuning (IMO, standalone is the ONLY smart way to go with this set-up).
I suggest you sell the block on mr2oc.com forum and dump the car (or part it out) for whatever you can get for it. You have a brand new IS300 and you don't need this headache. Getting even stock 3s swaps to run correctly is neither easy or a budget proposition - especially for people who have a very limited experience working on engines. Your engine would add other complicating factors. -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

There are tons of enthusiasts over there that would buy a built long block for the right price - especially if you could demonstrate that the machine shop that did the build knew what they were doing. -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

$1700 for a built short block isent that much. Chico race works is selling them for $1500 right now. CRW is a reputable vendor on the MR2 board that has had thousands of successful transactions, gives a warranty, and stands behind his products. You are Joe Shmoe from New York. I bet you want to sell it as-is so if anything happens, you wont be responsible. Under those conditions, a price like $1000 makes more sense. Maybe you could get $1200-$1300 if the right buyer came along. If its just a short block, what are you going to use for your head if you build the celica? The same one you had with the cams and head work? Or, is that sold and you are planning to buy a stock head? You also have alot of other parts to get and then the headache of getting it running correclty. Under these circumstances, proceeding as you are suggesting will likely lead to nothing but collasal frustration and wasted time and money. That said, good luck with whatever you do. I have no vested interest in this other than trying to help you out. I know sometimes its hard to take a loss on pieces you have bought. I have done it and, while it stings at first, you get over it. Since you have "moved on" from this project already, I can almost guarantee you that you will have a huge sense of relief when all the parts are gone and you don't have to occupy your mind with this car which probably cost you alot of money in its final months. Throwing good money toward recreating a fraction of the dream that you have already given up on is probably short sighted. Edit: you need more detail in your for sale thread on mr2oc.com. Which pistons? what are the specs? What type of overbore? Etc. etc. This post has been edited by jgreening: Oct 16, 2005 - 6:10 PM -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |
