ok, i took off my air ride and put all stock suspension back on.
i couldn't get the half of end links off the struts i got at the junkyard, so i left them i and drove a couple days w/o them.

yesterday i got around to putting them back on and tight.

Now i have a clunking sound from the rear when i hit bumps. if u bounce the car from the rear i don't get a sound, but if i rock the car from the side i get the clunking noise from the rear. Sounds like metal hitting metal.

i was told to check my rear bearings, which i will do tomorrow.

anyone know what it would be off the bat?

same thing happened to me and it could be two things that i could think of....
theyre either not alighned right(with the arrows on the top strut mount, should be facing out) or you forgot to put the 1" washer on(the washer goes right under the very top nut that hold the spring down)

p.s. without the washer thingy theres like a 1" gap, and when you hit a bump it will make a slam noise...good luck

p.p.s. LET ME HAVE YOUR WING.... biggrin.gif

I have that weird noise too and could never figure out why. Anyways I don't give a rats ass about it anymore as long as the car doesn't stall and die out while Im driving. Forget less about the noise and more about how to get to point B from point A. tongue.gif

well, i never took the strut apart.
i got it as one complete assembly from the yard. unbolted my air struts and bolted these in.

There's been alot of talk about this type of noise being related to rear sway bar bushings on the chassis. My car makes the same noise when hitting bumps. They're only a couple bucks and they shouldn't be too hard to replace. I'll be replacing mine when I get the time.

I have the same thing...

But except with me... Whenever I come to a stop, usually a slow stop, a weird clunk comes from the back...

Its the weirdest thing cuz it doesnt happen all that much... confused.gif

If it wasnt doing it before you attached the sway bar then its the SWAY BAR BUSHINGs or the End links. Most likely the bushings..its very common. About 10$ for both at advanced auto parts

jacked the rear up and started shaking stuff. i heard the end link clank agains the strut.
