Could anyone with air bags or knowledge about these tell me the pros and cons from using bags?

Do you have to refill the air tank from time to time or does that in some magical kind of way refill itself or something? How does a car on bags handle versus stock or coils, regular springs etc?

How much weight can you put in the car and still be able to raise/lower the car on the fly?

How hard is the install?

Any useful info you think I should know before getting bags. Thanks in advance!

Here are some things you need to think about:

Bags are for show, NOT performance. If you're looking for any kind of performance then go with a nice spring/strut combo.

Most bag systems come with a small compressor. That's your "magic" way of filling the tank back up.

The install isn't too hard... about the same as installing springs/struts except you need to run some hoses and wiring.

I'm not gonna race anyone with my AT200 anyway, so as long as the car will handle/drive good enough for daily use I'm fine. It might be a problem with the government, but I'll work something out. Thanks for your reply Raven smile.gif

Any special brands or models to look out for? Anything better or worse than everyone else?

I guess you can raise or lower the car as much as you want (use common sense of course), or do you either raise it, or lower it? Like, is it either raised or lowered, or can you have like 10 settings between to choose from? 2 inch drop, 1.75 inch drop, 1.5 inch drop...?

you adjust the height by psi levels..

the right height will change depending on the load.. more people the lower your car will be, so you have to increase the air pressure to balance that out.

You could go with an air strut system and get the benefits of an adjustable strut plus the looks from bags, the drawback is they wear quick and I don't think the Celica has a set.

Wooooh woooh woooh hold your horses. What do you mean they wear quick? They cost 700 bucks (if bought separately) and could be found on airbagit.com They look like a regular strut with airbag welded on. So what would make them wear off quickly? Please clarify.

Wow some misleading information here. I am not a bag expert by any means but gonna get some soon on a 6gc as well I have tons of mini Truck friends on bags.

you have a compressor, tank, lines, valves, then electrical.

Air Struts are a blot on application but need to be rebuilt at least once a year if not more. Air Bags will also ware out(after some time) but dont need to be rebuilt, but custom brackets in most case's have to be made.

Compressor is really a throw up, its basicly you get what u pay for. I would run one really nice one 400$+ or a few smaller ones to keep that PSI up and also so when you come out to your car you can build PSI fast at least to get to ride height.

I would say at least a 5-7gallon tank to hold air because if your hitten switches alot you need alot of air at high PSI

Valves, you need one per bag/strut if you just want front and back, or dual vavles if you want a 10+ switch box.

Air line Size... bigger is faster... I am personaly gonna run 1/2" line on my celica but thats just because I want to jump, 3/8's or 1/4' will do the job but wont jump nor slam your car hard on the ground.

Little word to the wise, go all DOT approved fittings/line if you live in a state where the can legally pop your hood and inspect your ****, also if you hit switches infront of a cop they have the legal right to check all your fitting's and lines.

Any other questions let me know.

I don't live in a state at all.. I live in Norway and it's almost like California out here.. Everyone is strict about everything. So I'm not sure they will allow me bags at all, but I have to ask first. I might get lucky. Thanks for your reply though smile.gif

Air suspension costs (for a good kit) $1995.99
installation costs $800 by a local shop.
$taxes and it all comes down to $3K

So meanwhile I am stuck with a dillemma. for 3K I can get:
very good coilovers
true 90 degree lambo doors by gt factory
finish my bodykit
buy a spoiler/wing
buy and install gt-4 headlights (projectors)
buy and install custom taillights.
install undercar neon lights that my sponsor sent me
All for $3K

Now that leaves me thinking what should I do....

Where did you get yours from?

Where are some good places to buy the complete kit?
