Well the Nationwide Adjuster came out today to look at my car. He totalled it... He didn't even finish writing the estimate and he was like "it's already at $6000, there's no point really to keep going". So that sucks... And the insurance company only offered me $5110 for the car! That's ridiculous! The car is worth at least $5200 STOCK, according to n.a.d.a. and kelly blue book. I've put $3900 into the kit, the paint, and the rims, so I plan on fighting them tooth and nail if i have too. $5000 is laughable in my opinion. I know parts depreciate, but I think I should at least get $7500 for it.

people just dont understand what kind of loss it is to you. you've put your time and energy into that car and all they give you is below blue book price. I mean obviously you cant get all the money back that you spent on the car but they're totally disregarding the add-on parts and modifications that you've done to the car. that just doesnt make sense in my mind.

You buy a house with nothing in it and then you spend years building it up and adding furniture. What happens when its destroyed in a fire? You get money for everything that you claim. its not the full price of the item but you get money for it. Why isnt this the same with your automobile?

Hey man srry to see and hear about all that. kindasad.gif i know when i woke up and someone hit my car i was feeling sick so i can image how this feels, but u r taking it well and thats all that matters. deffinately fight with the insurance company cuz they just dont want to pay. i reported the accident with them and another one where a dear ran into me and because i was making them pay for the damages they dropped me from the plan. so deffinitely stick it to them biggrin.gif

Your insurance quote...was that through your insurance company, or his? Does he have full coverage? Do you? I know that my company pays for all damages...example I have a body kit on my car, and it will be payed for if it ever gets into an accident. So I'm curious to see what kind of coverage you have and the guy that hit you. If they're only offering less than kbb, that's bullsh!t. You need to fight that.

Book value for your 94 gts is $9500 Cdn?? That doesn't sound right at all..
My 95 gts has a book value of $55xx Cdn by MPI (public insurance here). That's just from the model/make/year, not including extras like mp3 decks and stuff.

oooo how s"ittty is that, insurance companies are like that over here they only pay out half if its a write off. Can you not get another person to have a look at it because you dont think its a write off. To me it doesnt look like one. I know it stinks but maybe its gods way of saying we can see how good you did looks whys, lets see what you can do now with the engine or somthing else. If it wasnt totaled i was going to say you could have done a the Honda S2000 tail light converstion.
Every cloud how a sliver lining! Keep your head up. Thanks for your help on cardomain.

most people dont understand, wither when selling or insurance wise, the aftermarket products dont mean **** unless the buyer actually wants it for thoes reasons. theres no fair, by the book way to assest the value. so at the end of the day your extra say 7k u put into the car for paint and go fast parts are meaningless. buy it back and part it out if you think you can get your money out of it. its all you can do.

Can you do tht i didnt know you could. So he would have to buy it back for the amount the insurance people have said they would pay him?? how does that work.
Id find out where that lad lives and wait 6-12 months before doing something of his in, but thats just me. I suppose everyone has accidents just ashame it was a nice car.

usually, insurance companies will auction their salvaged vehicles so other people can repair and restore them back to legal driving condition.

i got $3000 from my 4th gen but got sold for $100 at the auction, the estimated damage was probably around $400 only. i could've made an ease $2500 just like that.

I dunno how they got that figure, but i dunno. When i got into my accident i had 126xxxkm on it and they said book value of my car was $9500 CND without modifications. If it was a write off they were gonna gimme $13000..i dunt ask why or how, but they were gonna n my dmg was $6000 for the new 1/4, tail light, bumper, frame straightening, new interor pannels. I paid an extra $2000 to get the enitre car resprayed in a diff colour. I guess that its diff book value cuz u guys have public insurance and we have private.

Well all they're gonna offer me is $5275 for my car... and the insurance company won't budge. I friggin had the BIGGEST argument on the phone with them and nothing... They say that all the work i did actually lowered the cars value. That the paint job would only appeal to a small number of people, and the body kit did add value but took it away. The kelly blue book on the car is only $4700 so they're really only giving me $500 for the $4000 i put into it... it sucks...

This is just people being predigests to imports. It's stupid. I know if your car was a classic that you put a lot of work and money into, that they would almost have to give you more for it. Don't expect things to change, it's just the way close minded people work.

If your car was a classic you would also have special insurance that's made just for that type of coverage. My friend restored a 78 Cutlass with his dad and they never changed insurance to a classic car type company and when it got totalled it was only worth like $600 even though they had just put like $15,000 into it.

Most insurance companies won't give you any extra or less for modifications to the car, just whatever the book value is. When my first Celica was totalled they gave me the retail value and the estimated sales tax cost for a vehicle of that value. It doesn't matter if there's a different engine in the car, bodykit, etc it's insurance on the STOCK car that you insured with them. If you wanted coverage on your kit or different engine etc you needed to get it covered with them.

*Actually just found while typing this that (at least with my insurance company) comprehensive costs can cover more than the stock value like if your subs get stolen or something.
