Don't flame me, I've searched.

I have a Dual deck in my Celica much like this one:

http://www.dualav.com/product_individual.php?main=2&id=459

It has in it an iPlug, which you can hook up your iPod into and play your music from your iPod from your head unit. Right now the iPlug is just hanging by the floor, but I need a good place to mount it so that I can start using it for my iPod. Does anyone else have this? Or, if you don't and you play your iPod in your car, where do you mount your iPod? I was thinking of putting them both in the glove compartment, but possibly mounting the iPod in the ashtray, that way it is easily accessible to take it out. Comments? Suggestions?

what i wanted to do was take out that small hole next to the cig lighter, and insert a lil slider. Throw my ipod down on that thing, and just slide it out when ever i needed to mess with it, and then slide it back in when i was done... i think it would be much easier with a short shifter. for the time being i just mounted my iplug in the compartment below the radio... and have a wire going from the plug to the ipod...

That would be cool having it slide in and out...plus I have a short shifter, so that would work well. What about something that would go into the lighter hole? That may require a lot of customization, because it might interfere with climate controls.

Now THAT'S an idea. Make it slide in and out...but how would you mount it in there? I suppose that you would have to make some sort of holder for it in there, cut out half of the inside so that it stays put. But great idea.

that is pretty crafty, i didnt think of that one. Then again, i like to use my cup holders for holding other things, like drinks.

I love it. It's cheap, too. I picked mine up for $150 at Best Buy, and got free installation on it. Normally I don't purchase car audio there, but it was too good of a deal to pass up and free install is a good deal any day. It sounds great with the different EQ options on it, and the big volume knob is nice, too. It's different from any other deck I've seen, which is another reason I wanted it.

I think that I may do the cup holder idea, but it may take more work than I can do on my own. So it may end up going in that storage space right beneath the deck.

On another note: is it possible to move that storage space to above the deck? Or is it impossible because how the kit is designed?

I have an ipod mini and it fits perfectly in the ashtray. Then i just have an aux cable running right out by my shifter. It looks good. What i would do and have thought about doing was drilling a small hole in the glove box and just running it through there. The only problem is when you have to select new songs. Just a thought.

Take out the cup slider and mold the 1st holder into the iPod shape and some kind of way to hold it in. You will be able to use your 2nd cup holder and a good place for the iPod.

I can control the iPod through the deck that I have. That's the greatness about it.

95CelicaST, that would be a great idea but I think it would involve too much work molding the shape of it. I don't even know how to do that. I was driving home from work today and thought about the center console. I'm going to make a special holder for it in there, and then cover it up with a piece of plastic or something wrapped in black velvet or suede. That would cover it up, and protect it from sliding around. Anyone else like that idea?

If you dont mind leaving your cup holder open 24/7 go to a Scion Dealership and ask if they sell those Ipod holders, its like the bottom of a drink.. it snug and it holds either ipod mini or the 20gig ones.. I use one in my previa, but I just use the cig charger and Itrip... im too cheap to get the real ones.. hehe

It's easy to switch the two, just pull off the trim, unscrew the bracket that holds the HU and the pocket, pull it out, take the bracket off both sides, switch 'em, put everything back together. It uses different holes for the screws when you switch them, but they're there none the less.

I think that would bother me because of my short shifter.

Good, I want to switch them around. Thanks for the help.

What is so bad about the original position of the din/CD player? I am going to get an aftermarket CD player soon and I want to know before installation

Nothing, it's pretty much just personal preference.

Thanks Luke that's encouraging.

Ok, I'm going to make myself a holder for it and put it in the center console, as stated before. It will be a couple weeks to get this project done (Christmas time is busy at work), but I'll post pics as soon as I get it done. I'm also going to put a cover on top of it so that the console will still be usable, and wrap it in velvet.

The only problem I see is the wiring. Not sure how I'm going to do this yet. Anyone think I should drill a small hole and run the wires through the center piece like I think I'm going to do? Any other suggestions?

BTW, thanks everyone for your help (except you bonzaisushi, you assclown lol).
