Ok I'm done! Talk about a custom job...

This was a pain, but is worth it. Today I went to the Home Depot, and got all my supplies which included:

1 piece of 0.032 sheet metal
1 pair of cutting scissors
1 roll of duct tape

Then I went to a fabric store and bought:

1 yard of black fabric (this was embarassing to buy with a bunch of middle-aged women around me buying fabric and here I am)

I first drilled a hole through the bottom of the center console to run the wire for the iPod. I superglued the iPlug to the side of the center console by the seat (on the outside). Using a piece of cardboard, I traced the bottom of console and cut out the piece. Taking the measurements of the piece of cardboard, I then cut out the outline on the sheet metal.

Now came the hard part. Making two stands to hold the iPod in place. I cut sheet metal, and bent the bottoms so that I could attach them to the main piece. I duct taped them to it, lol. It stayed, so that'll work. After that I wrapped it in the fabric (which I have a crap load of left over). It fits, and it holds well. This will prevent scratches, and I think it looks pretty damn good.

Sorry for the extremely bright pics.

The sheet metal for the console:

I tried to get a side shot of the brackets I made to hold it in place:

Here's a pic of my HU installed. I'm still going to move it to the space below:

hmmm i like it, thats the one that slides down right? i was going to get that one, but they were outa the blue ones, and only had the red ones... I think your ipod thingy came out nice, not quite as cool as a lil slider from the radio area, but cool enough.

Yeah I like those pens.

I think it came out ok, it was very hard to wrap the sheet metal in the fabric. That's why it doesn't look as good at the bottom half. The pics make it look worse than it actually is.

The HU is the one that slides down. I believe that the red one would be way too hard on the eyes.
