a shift kit on an automatic celica??? at first i thought u were talking about a short shifter. i dunno what ure talking about. that can mean many things. maybe u want your auto to LOOK stick shift with a boot and stuff. nobody really sells that, u would just need to buy a shift boot with some knob and do it yourself like cahn55 did(i think it was him). bt besides that, i dunno wut u mean.

well what i meant was that this shift kit is meant for an automatic I over heard some guy saying that for people who would like to feel their celicas jump gear as if it was a stick shift, they will feel the same results using a ( shift kit ) and that they cost around $30 to $50 bucks. He told me that it cuts down the time from 1st to 2nd gear on an automatic car.

You have the A140(e) trans. To my knowledge there is no simple shift kit available for the A140 like what you would get for a GM TH400. The closest I've found is this performance rebuild kit from IPT. $449.00
http://www.importperformancetrans.com/toyotaauto.shtml#main Or you could just buy an already rebuilt trans for $2450.00. This post has been edited by WannabeGT4: Dec 29, 2005 - 8:54 PM -------------------- ![]() Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |

Some people like to find a way to disable the fuel cutoff in between shifts so that it shifts faster, but it shortens tranny life. Other than that i dunno.

You need to tear down the transmition for what I'm thinking off. Well, maybe not break it down, but at least open it. You can resize certan holes to increase pressure to handle higher hp and torque, and decrease time between shifts. I know desiel guys are doing this. Is that what you talking about? Or are you talking about the drag style flip lever that you just press forward or back to go up a gear? I don't know how you would mount that in a Celica, but I'm sure there's a way. This would be a nice thing to have for you auto guys. I probably would have tried to make one by now if I had an auto.
EDIT: This belongs in regular engine discussion. There's no turbo on your car, and even if there was, it's still the stock GT transmition. Isn't it? This post has been edited by Bigmeanbulldog55: Jan 14, 2006 - 4:00 PM -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

IPT is the only source I've found for modified valve bodies, performance torque converters, upgraded rebuild kits and manual controllers. They're not cheap however. -------------------- ![]() Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |
