Since the 6GC search engine blows dead bears and has taken the last 20 minutes of my life away from me, it's time for a new thread.
I wrecked my 94 GT a few weeks back swerving to miss someone who came into my lane around a blind corner on my way to work. The car is still driveable, but it's got it's share of body and suspension damage. But, since my AllTrac is still a work in progress, I'm stuck with driving my GT as is for now. The rear passenger side wheel bearing, upon inspection, is loose. Loose enough, in fact, to cause the brakes to "creak" when I step on them. The sound is variable with the speed I'm driving at. The slower I go, the slower the "intermittent" creaking is. I went to our local import auto parts place to buy a replacement hub, since I don't have a bearing press and Toyota wanted $650 to redo them for me. I bring the thing home, disassemble that corner of the car, and come to find out that the bearing I bought has SPLINES on it! Obviously not for a GT or an ST. So I called the shop back, and apparently the catalog that they pull parts from lists that as the same part for the ST AND the GT for 94-99. Urg. I suspect the suspension between the 93 and the 94 GTs aren't all that dissimilar... would I be wasting my time to buy a rear hub spindle assembly for a 93 and put it in there? Or does anyone even have the part number for this thing? TIA. -------------------- Chris
