ok so a friend of mines cousin purchased a 2nd generation jdm mr2 engine (with tranny ,ecu, harness,& turbo included). The engine ahs 36k miles on it but the only problem is that im goign to have to put the turbo manifold, intake manifold, tranny, and sesors and so on back on the block. The price of the engine is 1200.My question is would putting all this stuff on the engine be worth the cost and how much would it cost. Also when i was looking into a 3sgte swap he said that itd be better if i just got an alltrac celica clip and then got a transmission from an mr2 to keep the car front wheel drive. My main question is would i be better off buying a celica all-trac clip and then finding an mr2 transmission or just gust going with this mr2 engine purchase sinc eit comes with the transmission..which oone would cost me the least overall?

if it comes with the trans, and ur willing to spend the time converting the trans to a FWD trans, go for it. Or you could get the camry v6 5speed, or just the trans off a 5sfe. Im plannin on buyin a 2nd gen JDM MR2 motor in a weeks time. Im just usin my factory 5s trans on her. If you have an ST, why dont u go with somethin a lil cheaper?? like a 20V silver top or black top and keep ur trans?? The place im buyin my 3s from is sellin silvertops with ecus, uncut harnesses and every possible thing you would need for the swap for half the price of a 3s. If i had an ST i would swap in a 20v

Converting to FWD takes very little time but you will need soem ST205 parts which cost more money and also if u buy just the engine you are still missing quite a few essential parts.

the 2 big problems youll have with a mr2 3s is #1 the harness is diffrent, and #2 some of the accessories are in diffrent spots, the waternecks are diffrent, ect..unless your just swapping out one 3s for antoher, its much easier to start with a celica clip.
