Superspynt did this. Airflow over the intercooler is only one problem. The other problem is that the ST185 a/a intercooler just does not have the adequate cooling capacity for safely boosting higher than stock levels. Do yourself a favor and get either a FMIC or a w/a intercooler.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Agreed with JG. I put the scoop on immediately because I did not know when I would upgrade the intercooler. I now have a water to air intercooler, and the scoop also helps when the cars sitting, allowing heat to escape.

the stock top mount.....SUCKS ASS, even with any type of hood scoop. its probably the worst design ever.

I assume that you are referring to an air-to-air top mount wather than the WAI. WAI is far more efficient than an air-to-air below around 350bhp. If it was a cr@p design, I very much doubt that Toyota would have used it on their WRC cars wink.gif

i meant the air to air. its just a horrible idea, even on a stock 5th gen alltrac.

the water to air is a very good design, tho.
