i went to see a doctor today. he seemed like he was doing everything he could think of to make me not want to be his patient. he was saying how i should see somone local for this operation that i want to have, because of all these things that can go wrong, and all the pain i would be in ,etc and how the operation might not help me at all ... when i know all too well that this place is known for taking patients with the same symptoms, in from all over the world for this surgery. his officed is used to dealing with patients from as far away as austraila. ....

then i realized that he is not in my insurace network, so that it would be a major pain in the ass to get my insurace to pay him. knowing how doctors treated me when i didnt have any insurance, im starting to think that maybe this is why he was so quick to turn me away. i used to go to my family doctor, and the 1st words out of his mouth would be "oh you dont have insurace". i always thought that they treated eveyone the same regardless of insurance, but i dont now.

Nope. No insurance = crappy service. Unless you're rich.

Doctors suck.

If you dont have insurance, they kindly throw you out on the street. I hate doctors, hospitals, perscription drugs. They are all full of sh!t. Hang on the majority of doctors are full of it, there of course are exceptions. But I'm sure you understand what I mean.

Is this the only doctor at the hospital that can handle your opertation ? I'm sure once you get your insurance to cooperate, he'll change his tune.

Good luck man

Hm, I've always had great luck with doctor's. Insurance has covered many of my surgeries. And my plastic surgeon didn't charge me for corrective surgery.. (then again he was probably afraid I would sue him!)

It's cool, I'm actually the Mad Scientist kind of doctor, not the MD kind of doctor, but most people don't pick up on that. smile.gif

yes this is the same doctor... i swear ive the the worst year of my life. there is no way i can get my insurace to accept it. i have keystone so they only cover doctors in PA, he is in virgina. wish i knew that all this time

trust me when i tell you, you are making a big mistake. i was dumb like you and didnt sign up for insurace at my last job, because i had another job lined up with insurace that starts in 2 months.... next thing i know, i got really sick and couldnt start the new job. all the medical bills out of my pocket cost me more then i ever spent on my car. i ended up buying out my own insurnace... you dont even want to know what i pay a month, but its still cheaper for one year, then what they would charge me for a single test.

the worst part is, when they cant tell you whats wrong.... instead of saying "im not sure, let me research it" ... they say " you must be crazy ". as if everyone in their 20s never has any health issues worse then a cold.

well, as my mom being a doctor, i know how they operate. When they take care of a patient with no insurance its basically like they are doing it for free, yes they can bill you but ALOT of people dont pay. With insurance, the doctors are gaurenteed the money, so they can take care of you. And when you really think of it put it like this,

If I were to tell you if you mow my lawn, maybe i'll pay you next week, or the week after. And then my neighbor across the street says if you mow my lawn i'll pay you $50 right now. Who would you mow the lawn for?

So its not that they dont want to take care of you, they want to get paid, which 2 me is completly understandable.
