Ok, so i got my motor replaced last week, every thing was fine when i got the car back. Then today, im out driving around and put one of my cd's on. Usually this cd has alot of bass and you can rattel the windows of the celi easily with my sub. But sub wasnt pounding. So i went into the back seat, folded the back down, checked my amp. Amp isnt turned on. So i figured they probably blew a fuse when they were puttin every thing back together. So i poped the hood to check, nope..fuse still in tact. This amp is pretty new, i bought it used off my sis' ex who barely drove his car. Any idea of what could be causing my amp not to turn on. Also the connection to the battery is fine.

The people that replaced your engine probably did a "test" on your system

i think it's your remote wire, they could of stretched it out and severed a connection somewhere in the middle. just do this quick test-take a peice of wire(about the same gauge of the remote) and wire it on the amp like this-one side to remote and then the other side to power(+) basically creating a direct feed. if the amp turns on then it's your remote wire, if not i would try a new ground because i had the same problem at one point.
side note: make sure when you do the direct feed that you take out the main fuse on your positive wire so you avoid blowing it and put it back in when you're ready to test. once everything is in place the amp should be on without the key, if not try your ground like i said above. hope this made sense and was helpful. sorry if it didn't make sense. -------------------- |

that was nice and clear. I think i may have found the problem. I ran all my wires under the carpet, under the center console, under the dash and through the firewall. I left alot of excess wire under the back seats, just incase i wanted to move my amp some where else in the future. Any ways, last week i had both the back seats folded down to accomidate my skis and my buddys snow board. Any ways, when my friend put his board in, the tip of the board came in, and caught the power, and remote wires, and ripped the wire out of connectors i had installed. I guess when i crimped them, i didnt crimp hard enough. Im about to go out side and take the connectors off and just wrap the wires around the terminals and just tighten them down hard. I checked all the fuses inline with the amp (one under the hood, one in the inline fuse holder, and the one in the amp) and they are all good.

well, i checked my wiring, etc..still didnt work. So i went to my sponsor today and asked him what he thought it could be. He did a check on it and said that its fried. I grounded my amp through my shock tower, but apprently because the shock moves slightly, it doesnt give a constant ground. So somethin happened within the amp and it fried. So my sponsor went into the back and said, "here, i got this amp, its a trade in from one of my friends...he used this for a month in his car and decided to upgrade every thing. Ill sell it to you for $40." So i paid him $40 and i got a sony explode 500watt amp.
