Is it just me or does autozone and advanced auto never give you the right part? I have had to take back rotors and brake pads in 2 days because the rotors were the wrong ones, and the brake pads they gave me were half the size of the ones that I needed. WTF! Why can't they get our parts right?

There are a few different axles in their books for our cars. I went through that problem when I replaced mine. You can never count on them giving you the right part. It doesn't take a real genious to work at those places. There are some guys at them that know what their doing, but they are few and far between.

I personally don't like my autozone because every time i go in there they treat me like i'm an idiot.
For example: The oil filter I use happens to be on the top shelf, since i am only 5'2" i can reach that, so i have to ask for someone to get me the filter. I asked this guy to get me the filter, told him what kind and the number. He looks at me and goes are you sure thats the right one for your car? I'm like yes i'm positive... Then hes like ok.. but your SURE thats the right one. At this point i get annoyed and i said Yes i'm sure, i've had the car for 3 years i think i know my own oil filter. So this ass is like well i can check it on the computer right here for you to make sure it's correct or you can ask the person that is doing it for you. So i said I am doing it and no I'll just take the filter thanks. So he laughs and goes well if you find out this isnt the right one we will take it back. I wanted to punch him in the face. Fortunately for his face I did not. BTW: yes it was the right filter.

It's their computerized inventory that sucks. If you know what you're buying, have them cross refrence stuff with different model years before they give it to ya.

If I ever need to buy anything from Advanced then I usually know exactly what it is, or tell them exactly what it is and what its for. Never had a situaton yet where there was any doubt as to it being the right part or not....I don't give them an option. wink.gif

However, come to think of it its very rare to have to order any parts for the Celica. Damn thing is bulletproof. thumbsup.gif

EDIT- oh yeah, and boo to store clerks treating Tina like an idiot when getting an oil filter. For some reason that happened to me in Wal-Mart of all places to me today......Some guy stocking the shelves accused me over and over of not knowing what filter was the right one. I tried to tell him I'd used the same number filter for 4 years now, and he had a hard time believing me.....I personally tend to think that changing oil is an easy job, but maybe its just me. Whatever. lol

Sorry to drag this off topic, but I think it's important. I only use K&N oil filters because it's so dang small. I'd like to find the next size up or something. I don't like the little oil filter. Seems like it could get plugged easy and what not.

You guys feel free to use expensive filters then. tongue.gif I choose to use the "cheap" Fram filters on my 5SFE because it really doesnt matter.....im not too prissy about what I use in my 180,000+ mile economy motor that's getting swapped out soon enough anyway.

It gets the job done as far as I'm concerned. When theres a 3SGTE under the hood it probably won't see anything other than K&N or Toyota filters, but for now it works just fine for me and my 12 year old car.
