Hey guys, im not sure but Ive heard from a couple of friends that the 4age "silvertop" comes VVT and the "blacktop" comes VVTI. Is this true? Somebody who really knows wut he's talking about, please lemme know.

It's true that the silvertop has VVT, but the blacktop does not have VVTi. The blacktop has VVT also.

To go into detail... it's a common misconception that the blacktop has VVTi... when it actually doesn't. It merely engages VVT differently than the silvertop. The blacktop engages VVT based on throttle position, while the silvertop does it based on rpm...

At least some silvertop ECUs engage VVT based on throttle position. I've read that post-'93 ECUs do this, but I don't know if that's accurate. I do know that my silvertop's VVT engages based on throttle position.
