this weekend, the wifey and I, and my cousin joe went out to look at a 91 MR2 N/A, T-tops, 71k, with some minor issues.
the clutch wont fully disengage, and once the car is warm the idle fluctuates rapidly from 800-12-1300, back and forth.
so we drove out, (it was about 45 min from home) and checked it out.
pretty nice little car, minor rust spots on the 2 front wheelwells, no major body damage.
starts right up, no problem, cold idle holds fine.
try to put the car in gear, no go.
shut the car off, put it in 1st. start car, no problem. car does not "lurch" forward at all.
as SOON as you start to take the clutch pedal off the floor, it starts grabbing. like less than 1/4".
once its in gear, the clutch will not fully disengage to allow you to shift.
i could "slip" it outta 1st and into 2nd ect. by speed matching..
the clutch is new, so im thinking clutch pedal adjustment, or slave cylinder..any thoughts?
for the idle thing, that was a little odd...
cold start, idle holds fine, no problems.
once it warms up to temp, the rpms start fluctuating back and forth between like idle and 1200rpm or so, on about a 2 second interval.
the kid had paid 3500 for the car, drove it 40 miles, and it died. he did the clutch, t-belt, waterpump and assosiated parts, working on it once a month for the past several months (the car is stored at his parents house, 100miles from where he is).
basicly just sick of working on it at this point, so we jumped in, and my cousin joe bought it for 2K.
here are some pics.

im pretty excited about it, should be a really fun car once we get the little issues worked out with it..
