Just about 3 days ago, i hear my cv axle going bad. So i went to oreilly to get the refurb. I went straight home and take the hub and everything off to replace it, got it done in about 3hrs, test drive it for about 1min and it snaps out. (where the tripod and the boot are) Okay.. i thought it might be just a bad one, so i go back and reorder another one. SAME **** HAPPEN AGAIN! TODAY!!!!!!! i wont get another one till monday, cuz thats all dallas has. So what am i doing wrong? i just put everything back where it was. its simple. Could kyb + tanabe springs do anything? i dont think so. SO PLZ HELP ME GUYS! im begging. ill take pix if needed.

could be the axles that you are getting, they might not be the right ones...i had similar problem with mines and had to go through 6 new rebuilt axles and all from different shops. so far the one i have installed now is holding up pretty good. you should try picking up a used one from the junkyard or something.

Well i got it from O Reilly. looks exactly like my old one. Could i have torque the spindle nut too much? im stressed. I couldnt sleep cuz its parked in the ghetto of arlington right now. Since it was dark i hope i didnt park on a no park zone... other than that i dont think i could do anything wrong.

the inner, and its the driver side. i think it might be my bearings or the brakes that is holding the axle spindle. cuz i hear my brakes scratching on it. When i took my brake caliber out i didnt take out the pads either. so iono it could be that or i dont know what im really talking about. but do u have a solution or know why?

is your suspension modified? the inner joint is the plunge joint that allows the axle to change lenght as the wheel moves up and down. when it pops out like that its normally a suspension issue, like the suspension moved up or down beyond the joints range of movement.

try another brand of axle assembly and if you still have an issue then just take it to a shop and explain whats been happening.

yay i found the solution. when the first cv axle went out on me, the grind before the snap ring snaped inside the tranny and when i put the second cv axle broke on me, the part before the snap ring broke inside the tranny too. I spend probably about 1hr trying to dig it out and i got it out. and so yay oreilly has one in stock and i got it working now... THANKS for the help guys.

the exact same thing happened to me a couple months ago. my cousin and i replace both of my axles cause i said might as well do both at the same time and the very nest day as soon as i got off the freeway i was at a stp and i heard a clunking noise and sure enough the bott was split open and the axle was hanging. but i went to the place where i bought them and they gave me all new ones and they have benn working fine ever since.

People, people, make sure that when you order it's for your ST not GT and GT not an ST axel. If you don't know what you are doing, than perhaps take it to a mechanic.

Yes, the snap ring is the most important part in a CV axel, make sure you put it in correctly by tapping in the axel and not just pushing it in with your hands and think that its in cause it's not!
