Well my girlfriend has been shopping for a car for a while now. First she was hell bent on a Dodge Neon, but when she found out about the head gasket problem (and then asked me what that meant) she decided not to look for them anymore. I told her look for a Corolla or a Prism, because thats Toyota, and that is dependable.

Sooo I get a call today at work. It was my girlfriend. She had found a 95 Geo Prism with 130K for 2500 in Seattle. She kept saying "It's Purple and shiny and I want it!"

So I call the lot that it is on and they said it needs a new alternator, but they have ordered it and will be putting it on. They also said an old lady bought it from them years ago, and just brought it back to trade up.

I do not know if it has had any kind of tune-up, or anything else really, as I found this stuff this afternoon, but my question is How much would you pay for this car? Certainly not 2500, but I was thinking, if it is in as good of condition as the picture shows, then maybe 2K? No? Less?

Their ad says:

1995 GEO PRIZM SEDAN
130,000 miles
Automatic
4 cylinder
$2500

It would be a nice lil car. As far as i know it has the 7afe which is what is in the st celica. I would go for 2k no more. I would also check the brakes and wheels, to make sure those wont have to be replaced anytime soon. One reason people get ride of a car and get a new one, is because theres work that needs to be done, and they dont want to do it.

Yeah I was going to make sure the brakes are good and that the tires aren't worn out. Also, I have this bad luck with going to look at cars and finding huge body damage on them. We were looking at this one neon that looked great in the pictures, but when we got there it looked like there wasn't a car in Seattle they haven't hit.

Agreed. Don't pay more than 2k out the door for that.

Time will tell that it is a mistake to replace the F-14 Tomcat with the F-18 Super Hornet as the carriers first line of defense.
