As many of you know I have went through some trannys in the past and I need to get something thats better and can hold the power of a 3sgte... something I can beat on and daily drive at the same time. So I chose the e153 93 mr2 turbo tranny.
Let me start out by saying This is not the type of converstion you want to do if your on a budget. I have alot of money into this and it hasnt been cheep for the past few weeks. Another tip. When ordering parts from toyota you have to have them show you exactly what they are odering. They got the wrong parts 3 times. First thing I did was get the tranny. The tranny is a e153 off of a 93 mr2 turbo. Purchased it for 800$ For the axle setup everyone already knows this. Mr2 inners and alltrac outers. Its best to buy the mr2 inners used. The lsd axles are really expensive. Alltrac outers go for 150 dollars brand new so its best to go that route. after I had the axle setup finished I figured I would have to get this thing ready for front wheel drive. I went to the toyota dealership to order all of my shifter brackets + Shift acuator to make this tranny fwd. They got the order wrong 3 times. And each time it took around 4-7 days to get the order in. I ordered all brackets off of a e153 solara tranny. Plus the speed sensor. They screwed the speedsensor up a good 2 times. Getting the brackets on the tranny is actually really simple. Theres no drilling involved thres actually holes there for the brackets. Speed sensor plugs right in no modification at all. Actuator is a different story though. You need to take the actuator off of the gt tranny and kind of match some of the parts in there to make it fit. Thats how I did it. Next I ordered a new spec clutch. Was suppost to get here wed last week. Of course it was the wrong clutch. So now im just waiting to get the right clutch for a mr2 turbo. So far everything seems good. The front tranny mount the one right under the rad looks like its going to fit the e153 tranny. The one next to the fenderwall Im going to combine mr2 mount with the gt mount. Now the hardest mount is the one in the back Im going to have to get a mount welded there to make that work........ Im most likely going to take some pictures tommorow to show everyone the progress... My clutch should be in tommorow morning Im hoping to have this done tommorow night....... -------------------- BANNED!
