md/dc/va people and earl scheibs Options

ok now weve all seen good earl scheibs jobs, but with those kind of shops its not really a blanket statement that they are all awesome, so i was wondering if any of you guys had seen in person any earl scheibs jobs around here and how they were

and if you have any pics of it that would be great


(also if you know of any other good paint jobs around the area that are pretty cheap let me know what you were quoted)

Go to the shop near you and check out cars they've already painted. That's what I did... at any one time they have dozens of jobs going on or done.

thats what im thinkin about.. do they do good body work too? i have 2 small dents id like repaired when i do the cheapo paint job, but i dont know if its a good idea

although i was thinking about doing my own body work on it, and sanding/priming it before taking it to them, but at the same time part of me doesnt feel like it at all.. so i dont know what to do

edit: i also have clear coat bubbling in quite a few spots, do they sand that down before painting or what? will they just spray over that and it will look like ass?

If you need body work done, I would take it to someone else or do it yourself... earl scheib is pretty much just a paint place... their prep work is horrible too... if I were to go back I would mask the car myself...

There's plenty of bodywork how-to's out there you can read up on or visit the library.

my uncle told me, earl sheib is were u go when u want them to fck your car up and u want to claim insurence. I trust him go to macco there's one in Mannasas that i used they did an excelent job and finished the car extremely quick.

Prep work quality is dependant in part upon the shop you take it to, but Maaco hardly has a good reputation. They pay low rates, and as a result get the staff who cannot command a higher wage. Plus time-savings are required to get the prices low, so instead of removing parts, they mask them (even the easy stuff like bumper lights).

However, even if you luck out and get a place that does great work, you still have to contend with the cheap paint. It may look good initially, but even if well-kept and properly protected, it ages quickly. My car was Maaco painted, and within three years people thought it was the original Toyota red paintjob. The stock paint, BTW, is notorious for colour fade.
