check your thermostat/replace it. make sure your fan is working also while idling. I seriously doubt its a head gasket- you would know from other reasons if your head gasket was out.

Whens the last time you actually flushed the system? Coolant does go bad after awhile, you may need some new coolant.

Ouch that sounds like what happened when my radiator cracked.. had to replace both the radiator and the fan.
It says don't add water because it was already mixed with water.. it's like 50/50 if I remember correctly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. -------------------- |

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. just buy coolant, its premixed antifreeze and water. you can take your car in and have it flushed or do it yourself. check out this link: http://www.carcentral.net/content/guides/H...olingSystem.php its kind of difficult so you may just want to get it professionally done/ have them replace the termostat too. |

K.I.S.S. first off you want to work from the easiest fixes back. so i would go ahead and get a new radiator cap and thermostat. the reason for the cap would be that when a liquid is under pressure it's boiling point increases therefore if the radiator cap has a bad seal or whatever then the boiling point would go down causing the fluid to boil. get the thermostat just to be safe they aren't expensive and they're relatively easy to change out. then if that doesn't work have the system flushed and replaced. um...yeah that's about it.

also check the waterpump...wiggle the part where the belt sits and spins the pump..if it is loose then you need a new waterpump...they are really cheap so dont think it is a big fix...like 20-25 to buy one.
