So about a month ago i removed my spare tire. 1/2 because it was flat and i was too lazy to fill it, 1/2 because it weighs a ton. Anyways, just today i got around to removing the jack because.... well, why jack a car if you can put a spare under it! Anyways to my surprise when i yanked the jack out the bottom was covered in an orange/ brown "coat". Im just wondering if this is some sort of additive that makes the metal stronger? See pics below.
