Welcome a new brushed metal colored laptop - the 15" MacBook Pro!
![]() Top left: 15" Core Duo 2.0GHz MacBook Pro - My newest laptop Top Right: 12" G4 1.33GHz iBook - My girlfriend's laptop Bottom Right: G4 1.33GHz Mac Mini - My old computer Bottom Left: 12" G3 600MHz iBook - with a busted screen, intended for carputer use ![]() Beautiful backlit keyboard ![]() Thoughts after the first day: As expected. From the great looking box design, to the well designed packaging, to the beautiful, light, and thin machine. Also as expected, computer running kind of hot.... just as hot as my old old old 12" 867MHz PowerBook. A update to the newest firmware is required (It fixed something and really helped cool the computer down). But I'd still suggess a notebook cooler placed underneath. Not as expected, Photoshop running SLOWER than I thought (Compared to the 1.33GHz Mac Mini with 1GB of RAM). I suspect is the low memory (only 512MB). Tomorrow I might pay a visit to Frys and hopefully could order a Gig of memory for less than 100, rather than paying Apple a ridiculously expensive price of 300 something. Well in general I really like this computer except the slowness of Photoshop. The non-Universal Binary Photoshop really is a bummer. Hopefully adding a stick of gig will improve a bit. Nice, I so want the 17". Yeah, 1 gig is minimum to me which is why my computer has 2 gigs in it. Yet I want another 2

Until you have an intel version of photoshop, install windows and use windows photoshop, any application in rosetta will be even slower than on old G4s.
I'm salivating on the new MacBooks myself, price is awesome for a dual core laptop! -------------------- ![]() -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |
