ok, im not an expert...ok i am nowhere close to being one at cars...but.
i was attempting to practice heel toe shifting in my car today, while it wasnt running:
-problem, gas pedal is to far away from brake for my foot
but as i was down there checking it out i noticed when the pedal was all the way down...it hit carpet/mat...and i thought if the carpet wasnt there would i get that much more out of my throttle? or does max throttle get exceeded before hand? im curious, cause if so, im going to be doing some modifications to my drivers mat....cause thats 1/4 inch...and it may do somthing. can someone tell me if im being stupid or not?
thanks

mine hits the floor too,

never gone to the äm i losing acceleration/power theory" stage though

i'll check it out, but it shouldnt do much

as someone else mentioned, get someone to watch your throttle body as you put the pedal down and watch for any slack in the cable etc....

right right, thats why people say floor it
...but what if flooring it isnt exactly getting all the power?
that is what i was questioning, but ya, ill get someone to watch the throttle body and most likely just cause i retarted like that, im gunna cut that part of the mat out, and sew it back to look nice...u never know.
thanks guys

im laughing at the idea...i never thought about the idea of the accelorator actually hitting the floor lol

jus tthought the idea was push it so hard that u push it past the point in which its suppose to be. thus giving uber pwoer

nah i dont think thats how it works... this is just a guess, im talking about something i dont know much about

ok i learned this from my motor scooter...

if the throttle is closed, than i think its gona look like a coin in the middle of a pipe, but when you floor it, the coin is gona go 90 degreez sideways, so that the air can rush in.

i think that flooring it anymore than what it is susposed to be will cause that flat edge to kinda give it +20 degreez which would put that coin in the pipe at a 120 degree angle, causing the same effect that having the throttle pushed in 3/4th of the way, not letting alll the air thru...

remember i learned that from my motor scooter lol, it would bog out like that

oooo damn rocket scientist here biggrin.gif

ok ok after the "floor it" and "pedal to the metal comment" this is getting a little out of hand/off topic......well kinda off topic....but not at the same time? idk im rambling. I wouldtnmess with your throttle cable for 2 reaons. 1.) if u kink it, ull have major issues 2.) if u set it wrong the car will idle high/bog out

According to my friend who is a mechanic, he says the reason why the pedal is so far was because of cost reduction when manufacturing. He says there is a spacer or something similar to that to even out the gas and the brakes. Not too sure.

well i dont think he meant that he wanted to press it beyond full throttle, he was asking if the floormats was in the way of the pedal so he couldn't give full throttle
