Hi,

i'm new to the forum and am in the market to buy a 6th gen celica. it's the gen that got me interested in the celica to begin with. i've owned teo7th gens (a GT and GT-S) after finally getting the Z. now i'm looking for a commuter car and have an oppurtunity at a great deal (or at least i think so). there is one dealer selling his for $4000 for a 1994 celica GT. i took it for a test drive and found it pretty good (a little noisy but it did have 115,000 miles on it). i was just wondering a few things that probably you experts would know off hand (of course i would do the obvious search but any off=hand advice is most appreciated):

a)the car was bought in texas. it got transported to los angeles. how does that affect smog? i know the cali celicas had lower hp to meet emissons.

b)are there any things i should look out for? any major problems the 5sfe have? i've been told the engine is practically bullet proof but i am not very knowledgable about the engine and it's querks.

c)i inspected the engine bay and found that the coolant was green (isn't toyo coolant red?), the oil was gritty and brown, the power steering fluid was gritty, seems like no leaks though...

d)toyota quoted me 260 for timing belt, 120 for tranny fluid, 110 for spark plug, 179 for fuel injection EFI clean, power steering 102, brake fluid flush 102, rear brake pad install 270....now i know i can get better service but is there anyone in the l.a. area great at toyo cars...especially knowledgable on the 5sfe?

please help me out. i need the car as soon as possible. thanks!
