okay check it out.

my engine check light came on, it dosent dissapear.

car runs good, no abnormal behavior except for when its cold and i start the celi, white smoke comes out, no not cold in the morning even when its like 90 degrees, white smoke still comes out, it dosent smell like anything xcept water.

but other than that, what else could be wrong? could it be the oxygen sensors? or could the valve seals be really messed up.

where can i actually get my car scanned for codes for free?

U Can scan them yourslf. Find the diagnostic port and jump
Terminals TE & E1. Read code, look up code.
Do a serch for CEL or engine diagnostics.

I always advise people t o Buy the manuals.
They will save you big in the long run.

it could be an IAT or ECT sensor issue, if either of those were bad and giving wrong readings you may not feel it when driving around, but you would feel it in the wallet with lower MPG. those sensors can be bad and not set a code. check the wires to them and the plugs for corrosion, then check the sensors electrical specs.

I'm no expert but white smoke out of the tail pipe always indicates water getting into the chambers. Check your coolant level, sounds to me as if you have a blowing gasket or cracked block/head. At first the symptoms are periodic as the crack or leak opens up as the engine temp drops then seals again as the presure and heat builds. Get it sorted now! if you leave it you are risking serious damage. The ECU prob picks the fault up due to the O2 readings going daft when your smoking.

Like i said though i'm no expert, just my opinion.
Good luck

my check light came on because of those. they say its too big of a spark for that motor. their ment for hi-performance motors, or assuming tubo or super charged

yeah they don't know what they are talking about, spark plugs won't set the CEL unless its picking up a miss fire, and they were not made for high performance engines, they were made to reduce the cost of maintenance, they will go for +100,000 miles.

my automechanics teacher said that the valve seal guides were prolly going bad, its like steam but than after the car is done warming up, nothing comes out, no white smoke nothing.

car runs like it did when i got it, it dosent have any problems otehr than the white smoke.

10 dollars of gas get me like 60-80 miles on 89.

but yeah i think ima go with lewfx and the air idle control.

when i start the car, rpm's dip down to like 300-500 rpm, even on cold mornings. the rpm's wont kick up to 1100 rpm unless i rev it up to 3000 really quick.

okay you guys wont belive this.

the engine check light came on in the rav4! it has the same problem with the air idle control. except white smoke dont blow out of the exhaust.

the engine is a 3sfe, i think it is the aic for both cars.
