So i'm driving today and I notice that my turn signals are flashing about twice the normal rate. I just replaced the front turn signal bulbs with LED ones, could this have something to do with it? Is there any way of returning them to normal? I guess it's not really a big deal, but I would like them to be the way they were before, if possible.

you might have to bridge a connection?

that's the way the car tells you that one of the bulbs is out.

Okay, when you install LED bulbs, they use a lower wattage than do the regular stock ones. Therefore, you car "THINKS" that your bulb is out because less watts is going there. So your blinker blinking fast is a way to tell you that the bulb is burnt out. Solutions is i dunno.

You need to put a ballast resistor across the 2 wires that goto the bulb holder. You will need 1 for each LED bulb.

I see what you're talking about. How many ohms of resistance should the resistors have?

try this, and it will sound dumb but put the led in the other way. flip it and it should go back to normal blinking

Turning the LED bulb around won't change anything, LED's have a positive and a negative side so the bulbs are designed to work regardelss which way around they are plugged it.

These are what you need, although this is a UK website I'm sure you'd be able to find an equivalent in the US.
http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/product_info.ph...1042ceed6b03aa7

I have them on the front and rear indicators.

my experiences with leds is that if its not plugged on the right side they wont work right. not all led are user friendly. but for all this hassle for led turn signal bulbs, why not just buy some regulat 1157s and take back the leds and not worry about resistors and all that jazz

If you need load resistors to fix the blinking problem, you can buy them on ebay here:
http://stores.ebay.com/Velocity-LEDs

I'm sure you can get them elsewhere also. I haven't tried these, so I'm not endorsing this particular company. Let us know how you fix the problem. smile.gif

Okay so I thought I'd try to get a few resistors at radioshack and hook them up myself today. I got some 10 ohm resistors for 99 cents and took them home. I found which wire to connect it to (since turn signal bulb is dual intensity). And it worked! But after only a few seconds the thing got REALLY HOT so I can't keep using it. At least now I know how many ohms of resistance I need, so I ordered some load resistors with 6 ohms of resistance that were made to carry that kind of current. I'll let you all know how it goes when I install them.

they do get really hot mate, I have mounted mine to the crash bar behind the front bumper, and the rear ones to the inside bodywork behind the plastic panel in the boot (where it bends away from the plastic boot panel so it doesn't touch it and melt.) You don't have indicators on that long though so they shouldn't get stupidly hot.
