HI!! I'm new to this forum and I wish that I could say that I am happy with my Celica. However, for the last two weeks it has given me problem after problem. I bought the car from a mechanic in my hometown (well, I gave the $ to my parents who told me that they had found the perfect car for me). As soon as a brought the car back home...the crap hit the fan. When I would go to start the car in the morning, it would idle low and then shut off. The only way that I can get the car moving is to hit the gas for 3-4 minutes and then rev it up to 6RPM...then quickly move into reverse (not good..I drive an auto!) and even then it still conked out. Since the first time it happened I took the car back home to the previous owner and he changed the throttle posotioning sensor...said it would fix the problem. I took the car to several mechanics and no one could find the problem until today...or I thought. He ran the computer and 4 codes came up, he said that the coolant sensor needed to be replaced. I agreed so he replaced it and 1 and a half hours later I was on the way home and the car shuts off TWICE the last time it didn't start back up again. The mechanic had to come and tow the car back to his shop where he then says that the distributor has to be replaced. He then tries THREE new distributors in my car...none of them work! So, now I am at home depressed becuase I have a feeling that the problem dosen't have anything to do with that part and it has more to do with the fuel pump...could this be the case? Please help me!! I am a college student and I was in a car accident two years ago (hit and run) my car was totaled...I've been walking to school and work since then. This car means the world to me. I'm already out $1000 bucks and I haven't had the car a month yet! frown.gif What should I do? Any responses would be helpful...Thank you!

sorry to hear it mate.

Never buy a mechanics car, they are never very well looked after!! Too late now I know.

Does sound like something to do with the fuelling, although the mechs should know that already.

Thanks guys!! The mechanic the I took it to previously said that it didn't have anything to do with the fuelp pump leaking. I added injector cleaner to the tank last week just because. I will try the O2 sensor and spraying the AIC with carb cleaner. That is actually what I intended to do yesterday but I didn't know where the valve was so I left it alone. Where is the valve located anyway?

I think he meant the ECU...?

Edit: The 6gc is a good car if you take good care of it... wink.gif

Oh yeah!! Luckily the mechanic didn't charge me the full price for the computer...he instead charged me the same price he would have if it were the distributor. The car is working great now...YAAAAY!!! I didn't know that the computer/ECU? had such so much influence in the car (sorry guys...i'm new to this!). Before my front speakers weren't working...I thought they were blown. After he installed the new part, they work great!! I see why they say the 6G Celicas have good sound systems! However, after I pulled out of the lot, the enging light came on not five minutes into my drive! Just my luck...I brought to to them this morning and they could find nothing wrong with the car...oh well, keep you posted. Thanks to everyone who helped me out!
