I've was flipping through Motor City Muscle earlier and I thought that this would be a cool question to ask all the car peeps here smile.gif So what would you want if you could have any factory produced muscle car? Also, why did you make your decision, because there are quite a few interesting and equally outrageous cars that you could pick from wink.gif

For me, I've always been an old mopar fan, particularily anything with the outrageous Hemi. I think Chrysler was really ahead of their time with the idea of designing an engine that would blow the doors off of anything else, and then worry about the car that it went into. I've never been a big fan of the 70 up E-bodies, but i've always admired the clean stying that the 68 and 69 B-bodies had... So my choice would be a 69 Roadrunner with that insane Hemi, in white with a black vynal (sp) roof, to be exact. The image the car exuded was still lighthearted even though the carw as an absolute beast, right down to the signature Beep Beep horn. biggrin.gif

Also, this comes to mind as well, but did your parents have any crazy cool muscle cars when they were younger? I ask this because my mom's first car WAS a 69 Hemi Roadrunner, in Jamaica Blue (this would be around 75)... She said she got it because it looked nice and had an 8 track player in it (!). Said she had no idea what a hemi was when she bought it (to this day i don't think the significance of the fact that car was a hemi has set in with her). Got it from the husband of a teacher she had... she would always say how she would get pulled over ALL the time in it, and when the cops saw a pretty young girl driving it, they wouldent know what to say laugh.gif She drove it till she moved to AZ in the late 70's, and she then sold it for 500 bucks (!!!)... She heard from her brother that the guy who bought it blew the engine up in it practically right after her got it frown.gif sad way to hear how a car like that came to an end, but I always though that it was an interesting story smile.gif

probably the only muscle car i'd get, which will never happen, would be a 67 shelby gt 500.

I would really really love to have a '68 roadrunner, with the original 383 engine. *drools* It generated 335hp @ 5200 rpm and 425 lb-ft @ 3400 rpm (alot quicker then the Celi). That would most definatly be my pick. My parents also owned their fair share of oldies. My mom had a '69 Charger and a Nova. And my pop had a old model-T , a '68 Roadrunner, and draged a '72 Duster. I actually have some pix somewhere. I'll have to search for them to show you all. biggrin.gif

/\ you've got good taste tongue.gif Man, I really wish my mom had pics of her Roadrunner, just because of how rare that thing was...

you know, I'm not sure if anyone on here would know, but I've heard that Hemi's are notoriously tempremental motors if you try and just "drive' them... I dunno if it's because of today's gas or not, because my mom never mentioned anything about the car being unreliable... anybody know?

Vinyl is spelled vinyl... helpin ya ought, brother man....

As far as muscle cars, hmmmmm............ I could think of a few. There are a lot of really nice early 70's Chevelles running around here. A blue one with white stripes... that would be a bad ass car... I saw a thing on tv about a Buick GSX and my god was that thing bad to the bone. Old Mustangs are nice, but I also like the 80's fox body ones. I work for a Ford dealership and am not impressed with Ford at all, but the crap some people do with Mustangs is just insane and deserves respect. My personal favorite of any muscle car out there is the GTO Judge, minus that faggot wing. That just makes me drool... a lot

Dude my dad has a roadrunner in almost perfect condition that hes had since I was a lil kid. He owns a body shop and its been parked there (inside) in the back for years!!! I was checking it out the other day and theres no rust or anything and still has original motor in great shape. The interior was redone and is flawless. The body is lime green with drag tires in the back. OOOOOOOOhhhh man Im trying to see if he will pass it down to me cuz he said he doesnt have the time or money to care for it. Not quite sure of the year but mayne its nice!
Ill try to get some pics

I heard a while back that they were RATED at the 335 horse or 400 (maybe i'm not thinking straight) but when actually dyno'd... the numbers were a LOT higher.... and that the car company "tuned" down some models for testing for insurance purposes.... and then they dyno'd a few to prove it..... true or false?

I dont know if thats the case for the workhorse 383, but most of the high end big blocks that all the big three put into their muscle cars were grossly underrated

'69 Camaro COPO 9560 with the all aluminum ZL-1 7.0L 427ci big block V8 rated at 430hp, but made closer to 530!

Actually I wouldn't mind any '69 camaro!

In case anyone is interested in more info on the camaro and its engines check out wikipedia!

Chevelle SS or GTO. Also an Impala fan.

If I could have *any* older car I've always wanted a Datsun 240Z with an SR20 swap. I know i know, off topic. But definately the Chevelle.
