The lever to pop the trunk is broken so they tried messing with the key hole. Didnt happen. IF YOU HAVE A SYSTEM IN YOUR TRUNK, GET RID OF THE TRUNK LEVER, IT MAKES THEM NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEAL! You guys do know that the key on the hatch can be turned to the left (other way than to unlock it) then removed. Then your inside trunk lever doesn't work.
I suppose thieves would still steal it. Anyways, simple ways to protect it are like this: Get an alarm system with ignition and fuel pump cut, that way you're protected two ways. Get a 2-way if you want to know when it goes off. Get a gadget that has a key (mentioned on first? page) that must be in to start the car. Often they have a random pattern of 30 pins or so that's almost impossible to insert. Tinting windows and concealing stereo equpiment are good things. Shaved handles and lexan windows are nice but rather expensive, I think. my 2 cents. -------------------- |

Hi folks, I live in the south east UK, where I am there are loads of 'chavs' that hang about in gangs. Although my GT is on the driveway, along side my (Civic and Almera), those as.h*ls just wont leave my Celi alone. I haven't got a garage, so it is exposed for all to see. One day they even wrote some wierd code on the condensation - you reckon its signlanguage to target the car?
I recently got this steering wheel lock http://www.argos.co.uk/wcsstore/argos/imag...65UC226504X.jpg so that: 1. it will slow down the thief 2. acts as a visual deterrant 3. it's in the way of the head unit (yes they even steal the unit without the facia control nowadays!!) 4. If they did manage to rip out the front console to get at the head unit, the large lock device gets in the way 5. the lock is so large it rests on the horn, and is easily activated What I don't understand is why they want to break into the car (they tried screwdrivers by the door edge next to the door glass - they broke part of the plastic edging ( ![]() Any other ideas for deterants welcome. Oh yeah, how is it best to secure a subwoofer in the boot? Chain and bolts? -------------------- ![]() san0.:GT-SS2:. |

you have to feed their curiosity. leave the car wide open and let them check it out.

use pin torx for everything or one-way screws, and secure it all to the car with large bolts and washers. use pin torx to put the subs in the box and bolt the box to the car.

Sure it's nice to fantasize about putting a flamethrower under the car or a rotwieler in the back seat or shocking the f-er when her touches the car. btw the typical thief is a destructive person so they will more than likely bust your car up if they do get hurt by it.
Car security 101 Think like a thief, what would you absoultely hate when you're stealing a car? --> Attention to yourself <-- Thiefs don't want to be seen doing what they are doing. The key to deter the most persistant theif is just that Install some LOUD sirens (notice plural) outside. High pitch siren and low pitch siren, air raid sirens do wonders also. Hide the sirens in unreachable areas (ie behind the front turn signals), black loom all wires and route them with stock wires and out of reach from the open hood (ie inside the fender). Install lights, lots of them, even if they are just for your alarm. Strobes, neons, blinking lights, flashers for your headlights/tails/fog/etc.. the more the better. Install piezo pain generators inside the car so if they do get in, their ears will bleed to the sound of those piezos. make sure your car is well equiped with a well installed high quality 2-way paging system with: -shock sensor, tilt sensor, proximity sensor. Tune them very well so you get few false alarms. -Starter kill (those also work on fuel pump and EFI circuits btw). -Backup battery for the whole system (also relocating the battery to the trunk and read below) -Electric trunk poper that only works with ignition on or remote (removing the lever) that there is more than enough to choo away the most daring theif and make almost any attempt a failure. what if they do take it away, cause it's still possible, unlikely but possible install a GPS tracking device and call the police to track it down as soon as its noticed that it's been stolen. Those are REALISTIC ways to deter thiefs without too much compremise to the normal opperation of the car. If anyone needs help with wiring a "special" feature, PM me and I will help you out -------------------- ----------------------6GC's FIRST V6----------------------
