Here comes the domestic guy in me:

For what I know, who cares how many cams a car has. It can have one, two, four, whatever. All cams are there to do is performe the valvetrain cycle. Two cams does the same thing as one cam, four cams do the same thing as one cam.

more cams, more valves, more air....

...which is all pretty much irrelevant with forced induction.

People get too worked up over this stuff. Who cares, honestly?

still, any car or any engine can hit some magic dyno number with enough money. dosnt mean anything about how long it will last or that its better or worse then something else.

definitly true...you cant mix n match certain parts...you might even end up losing power w/o the proper set up.....thats researching before you buy something is such a major thing to do

ok its not that its just 1 cam, its that its a honda single cam motor from a civic, meaning its a b15 something or equivilant, 87hp stock cant hold must boost even when built on the inside, no one would waste the money required to get that motor to 400hp when they could swap it for a b18 and turbo that to get thoes numbers and then some for the same price.

Ok, I agree 100% that cams can do a lot for a motor. That just the basics of an engine there. I wasn't discounting that at all.

But......more cams does NOT necessarily mean more valves. Take a standard pushrod V8. One cam, two valves per cylinder. Then take a DOHC motor. Two cams, can still be two valves per cylinder, or could be three (Chevy Metro), or Four valves per cylinder. Just saying that more cams = more valves is a very incorrect statement.

You are trying to compare a highly tuned and modded car to a light tuned car. His to yours, he has ten folds done to his car compared to yours. He will smoke you easily. If you do about the same mods to your car, you will smoke him e.z. Now, have him race tufy's tuned 500 whp 3sgte. biggrin.gif And then we will know. He can talk all his $hit afterwards.

take the same amount of money as your friend spent on building up his civic, and dump it into your celica. then go race and find out who is faster.

you would be so suprised at what they can do with hondas and little tuning.... even on NA b series motors.

Oh I know the possible outcomes. My boy has a turbocharged hatchback civic with VTEC B18C1 motor. And his brother has a crazy hooked VTEC H22 prelude that eats BMW Z4 2.4L (not 3.0L) Coupes. Trust me, I know.

HAHAHA! laugh.gif I was there when they actually raced as well as other people saw it and they will tell you straight up. Don't under estimate hondas dude. I drove that prelude myself and that thing is literally x3 faster than mine.
