How bad is this?? Options

So, i have some regular coustomers who come into my work who are my "regulars" and im the resident toyota guy. Any ways, so i have this one guy who has been comin in since b4 i started working there who has a 5th gen. So he decided he was gonna do a 3s swap. So he came in and bought tons of stuff for it. FMIC, piping, Apexi BOV, SAFC II, wheels, breaks, stainless brake lines, etc. Over all he spent about $6500 in parts for his celi at my work. Any ways, he got his swap done..about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Spent a crap load of $ on it, and getting it done. So he was soooo happy it was done, and i was kinda happy for him. So, he has a friend of his who has a 5th gen too that he got swapped aswell. So he comes in and i start talking to him. Our conversation went somethin like this:

me - "Hey Pedro whats goin on man? What you break now? hahaha"
Pedro - "nah nothing man, just came to check to see if you have a some t-band clamps for my I/C piping"
Me - "sure man. Hows pete's car running?" (pete being the guy who spent a crap load of $ into his swap)
Pedro - "you didnt hear? Red's without a car. Got written off" (red being peter)
Me - "You serious man? what happened? he alright?"
Pedro - "yea hes ok, hurtin a bit, but hes ok. He was going towards an intersection and the light turned yellow. As he was going to pass through, he gave her a bit more, and some idiot pulled a U-turn without looking. Pete ended up t-boning him"
Me- "oh man, thats terrible. Every one ok?"
Pedro - "yea, both cars were written off and the guy who pulled the u-turn was at fault. Petes car is messd though. The impact was so bad, his crash bar came in all the way to his block, took a chunck of his block out, his manifold shattered, his turbo, shattered, all of his piping, everything is toast. Only thing thats still ok from his engine is his BOV."


I was driving to the mall today to go talk to my friend and as i was driving down, i saw his car. Its up on jackstands on the front. The hood looks like a taco. Its pretty bad. But he spent almost $15K on gettin the motor re-built, new internals, good qaulity parts, gettin a Blitz ECU from Japan, the clip, camry tranny. He spent sooo much $ on it, and then, BAM, all gone.

Pretty bad eh??
