QUOTE(m0dd3d1 @ Sep 2, 2006 - 10:35 AM) $281.60 for the kby's, & $320.00 for the install, which is nuts. Now (i don't really know much about suspension mind you) the way it was explained to me, was the shocks/struts are kyb which will replace the whole rear susp, and the shocks will replace the front ones and i'll keep my eibach springs on the front? What's the difference between shocks, struts, sways, springs (are self explanitory). Does anyone have like, a picture of an entire setup so I can tell what's what? I'm not really trying to jack my own thread, but it is along the same lines because i'm looking at susp for the celli! Thanks guys. -Triscuit Struts- They house the shocks and springs Shock- They are inserted inside the strut housing. Play a major role in ride quality Springs- They go over the shock and sit on the lower strut plate and top strut plate. Sways- a front and rear bar that is connected to the strut by endlinks. They are designed to stop body roll when cornering. Strut Bars- Bars that connect to the top strut monut bolts on each side of the car. They allow for less body twisting during driving. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........

The shocks, or shock dampeners, control the movement of the car and the springs -- they smooth the ride and keep the tires on the ground. Springs are what your car actually rides on -- sort of floats on top of the springs. The shocks keep the springs from responding too violently to the road, which is why you need to match the responsiveness of the shocks to the strength of the springs.

Thanks guys. -Triscuit 320 labor is crazy. your local dealer should be cheaper than that. find another local member willing to help install and throw them some cash for help or doing it. if your willing to drive to PA i would even change them for ya for less than half of that shops price. im sure theres a member relatively close to you willing to help for a small fee KYB shocks and struts suck. As soon as I finish engine rebuild, they will be gone. The didn't last for more than three months. (Could probably be cause I got them off of ebay) I am going to try out the supper street tein coilover. |
