Lowest I got, City Driving + boosting, is 21,25 mpg. Highest is close to 33 mpg.
Compared to the 3S-GE not bad considering that POS did 20 City 24 Highway ( J/K on the POS part ![]() This post has been edited by Kadett: Sep 14, 2006 - 3:34 AM -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

Not really surprising at all. Decently modded MR2's acheive the same numbers, no reason why a celica with the same engine couldn't. And circulating your bov WILL improve gas mileage for sure.

Uhuh... after I drove the car back from the swap I already needed to fill it up. Then run the tank dry in 1,5 days
![]() ![]() ![]() Highway numbers are extremly fun. But I think # 1 reason for it is the shorter F/D in the gearbox. -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

WTH... 19MPG, with hard driving?! That's crazy... I get 15 mpg... and that's normal driving.

if you only get 20mpg on a stock 5sfe, then there is something wrong. might need a new o2 sensor, a tune up, or your tire presure is low.

I've seen 32mpg highway with my 5sfe...
when i obught it i was getting 190miles to the tank... soon after i did a tune up and started getting average 5sfe milage a k&n filter in the airbox will give you 1-2mpg (on the benz i went from average 8.2litres/100km to 7.8litres/100km after the K&N ) so that's going from 30.48mpg to 32.05mpg ... talking mostly highway here...but there you see ... k&n drop in cone filter is 1.5mpg+ -nuke -------------------- 2005 MB C200 Kompressor- K&N, Apexi WS2 Catback, DIY Voltage stabilizer, Intrax Springs, H&R RR swaybar, VDO Boost Gauge @ 6psi, Greddy L7 plugs, +0 Rear tires

I get about 22mpg in mixed semi-aggressive driving (full throttle at least once every time I drive) with my 3rd-gen 3s swapped Camry. I was hoping for closer to 25 (I got 28-30 with my turbo'd 3s-fe and over 30 with my old non-turbo Camry). I'm pretty sure most of the difference is the final drive ratio - I'm using the MR2 final drive wich puts my car at almost 3500rpm at 80mph (if I remember correctly, I haven't driven the car in a month or so). I cruise around 75mph on the freeway most of the time.
The Celica is heavier, but has better aerodynamics, so you guys should expect similar results... -Charlie -------------------- 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon

i think my gas mileage sux cuz basically 90% of my driving is rush hour city driving... and when i do go on the highway... i cruise @ 4krpm...
and probably has something to do with my crappy driving skills -------------------- |

RPM is the 900-lb gorilla of fuel economy (quote stolen from an old Car and Driver, I think).
That's why to get 37 mpg out of my 7a I shift at 2k almost all the time, with gradual and smooth throttle inputs, and I read traffic to minimize stopping and roll lights. I actually thought about putting up a video of my driving style just to be informative, but it probably wouldn't come across well. -------------------- |

so it seems that my MPG is probably better then i though. i just checked the tire presure in my car for the first time in a while. all 3 tires were at 28psi and one of them was down to about 12psi ! needless to say, this would definetly have an impact on performance and mpg. ill have to recheck it again after my next fill up.

i feel bad for you guys, my car doing 80mph is turning at about 2700 rpm, 85mph is 3000 rpm.
but i bet you feel bad for me, lacking good acceleration due to economy minded gearing. -------------------- |

My biggest beef with the tranny is the gap from 4th-5th is all of 300 rpm.
Also, I'd like a true OD for the highway, turning 2000 or so at 70. Where's my six speed? -------------------- |
