daaaayuuuum kid, if you got that much wik3d driving skill youd be beatin' skylines... craaazy skillllz

oh, and some upgraded latitudinal engine mounts. seeing as how the side mounts do nothing unless it's a longitudinally mounted engine. n00b.

that should help your uber-l33t misshifting driving skillzzZz

Are you making fun of me? You've always been cool to me, so I'm hoping that I'm missunderstanding what you've said here. The side mounts are the ones behind the radiator and next to the shift lever. That's how they list them at the auto parts stores. They don't do much for something like drag, but they just make the car a little more responsive on tite courses.

i would like to see some pics of that flywheel. the aftermarket wheels have sfi ratings that have RPM ranges there safe to. what brand was it?

I honestly can't remember. It was aftermarket when I got it, and then I lightend it up. Could have just been too much wieght cut off it or something

A 240 is rwd, I doubt you got the hole shot on him. Maybe he didn't have the swap.

He is a buddy of mine, and it is swapped, I've seen the motor with my own eyes. If your going to say crap like that, stay out of my thread. I'm not new to driving or racing my car. Just because I don't post about it all the time, doesn't mean I don't knwo what I'm talking about. A fwd with good tires and a good driver can get the hole shot on a rwd with worse tires and not as good a driver. Next time I take the car down to Fairmount to run on the 1/8, I'll take a pick of my slip before I throw it away to show you my almost flat 2 sec 60 foot time. Don't be a douche.

My previous record says I had the good shifting skills, but it has beeb tarnished. It was a really big race for me, and I was pretty nervous. I think that's why I missed. I keep replaying it over and over trying to figure out how I did it wrong. Honestly, I can never remember hitting the wrong gear like that since I started driving standards when I was 12 driving the farm truck around. But those are a lot of years to possibly forget things. I don't know anything about the 7afte's. The 5sfe just had so much torque that you could fly right off the line. People usually caught me at the end, but that's how I expected it to happen. I want to get this V6 turbo project of mine going so I can run with the big boys. There is a 425hp Civic in town, I know everyone has one in their town too, and I told him I was coming for him next summer. I don't think I could get the hp right off, but I'm still going after him. If I have my way, my car is going to be completely crap to drive. I know that, but for some reason I just can't bring myself to say "stop."

EDIT: I run low to mid 9s in the 1/8. My best was a 9.205. I had to go get the slip from the glove box. It'll be there till I get a better one.

I grew up with the old cars. Dad always called it Nitro, or Nitrous. So that's just what I picked up. It was a while before I started calling intercoolers intercoolers instead of aftercoolers. He talks desiel alot too. NOS is a brand name anyway. The propper name is Nitrous Oxide I guess. No one ever adds the Oxide part hardly.

Then another part of me says, please dont upgrade, dont go wasting any more motors or engines. Get a cheap 5sfe and throw it in there if your just going to be racing your friends and what not.

"get an economy engine if you want to race and a performance engine if you just want something to look at"
that makes sense..... tongue.gif

anyway, that sucks about your car dude, I hope you get a better engine in there. I'd like to see the HP numbers of a turbo V6

I've gotten so excited about my ideas with the 5sfe that I came up with last night. I almost just want to keep it and tweak with it instead of upgrading to a "real" motor. From everything I've ever heard on this site, that is stupid. But dang it, my results thus far have proved that this motor is not crap. And more tweaking can definately get it to a point that it will be one heck of a car to drive. Even if it's not the fastest car in town, it'll still be cool. lol, a NA 5sfe motor that will be cool. I'm probably standing completely alone when saying that.

get better rods and pistons, and the whole rotating assembly balanced, then some more agressive cams, and make it an NA 5S-GE. 2.2L of high revving power, but i bet you could still keep alot of your low end with the right cams.

...my meaning wasnt to get an economy engine if you wanted to race. It was get an economy motor if your just going to mess it up, and get a nice engine if your going to take care of it.

Way to totally misunderstand me smart guy.

Not quite... feel free to do a search. I've covered it in some detail a LOT of times...

Kwanza is right. The 5sfe or 5sge will never be high reving great NA motors. I like mine for it's torque. It's good for autocrossing. You wouldn't expect to see a TDI Jetta on the drag strip or cranking high revs, but they do nice we're they are. I know the 5sfe is limited. I have no delusions about awsome NA power. It's just a toy. A fun little car to play with, but it won't be a serious racer because of the bottem end, and top. I think the limits of it as a turbo motor have not come close to being maxed yet. But in NA form, it's fun, but it's not your typical high rev NA motor. It is what I'm use to now, and it works great for what I want to use it as.

Update, I've got everything back together now. Car isn't running as well. Feels like it just doesn't have the kick anymore. Motor is now showing it's age. I think I've lost compression and I'm leaking a good bit of oil now. A good bit to me might not be as much as a good bit to a DSM, but it's still more than it did. I've been talking to Dr Tweak about the motor swap. Dad seems up for it 1/2 the time. He's an old racer himself, and he keeps flip flopping between friend and parent.

about the sr20, on the strip, these arent really that great of an engine for a 240 to be fast in a line, the rb series swap would be a lot more effecient... 240s with a red top sr20 swap, fairly stock would run mid to high 14's, no very exciting... so it doesnt surprise me... good luck on getting your car running again... becareful on those shifts

you could have bent something a little with those obscene rpms. run a compression test.
