window tint Options

has anyone used the pre-cut tint kits off ebay? they're cheaper than buying bulk rolls and cutting yourself, and way cheaper than having someone else do it. any opinions on 20% or 35%, too? i'm sure 20% would look better, but i don't want to get pulled over....and i'm going to use the same grade all around (no mix-n-match).

nope...left it to the professionals. but i hear its hard....and it looks hard ( i watched them do it) i dont know too many ppl who do it themselves. probably for good reason

but try it. why not.

btw i like 20 all around. i havent had any problems but u never know. theyre not really strict around here from what ive experienced. but i woulda got 5% for my hatch if i were to do it again

i'd rather get it professionally done so i can get the warranty in case bubbles start showing up.

idk if it's cheaper in other states, but the lowest quote i've gotten so far for a pro job is $200. i can think of alot better ways to spend that kind of money when it comes to car parts, but i'd still like to have the windows tinted. i think it makes the car look nicer, and adds some security, too. (i just got a new head unit and even though i have an alarm...you can never be too safe.)

i'm not expecting perfection...i just want to know if the pre-cut kits are any better than the rolls.

i did mine but............ im going to go get it done professionaly now, My opinion is to go get it done, its well worth the money and plus if it gets screwed up or bubbles you can have them fix it

i got mine proffessionally done with 3m tint for $200 CND for a few reasons
1) theres a lifetime warranty on that stuff
2)if you put your tint yourself and mess up then getting it taken out is expensive
3)unless they're 3m tint they tend to turn purple after a certain amount of time
4) its worth the money and no hassles

number 4 is the truth, sometimes its just better to pay the professionals. installing tints is not something i would attempt, one crease and you ruin the film. just got 15% all around on mine for $199 and lifetime warranty and am very happy. they are pretty damn dark, driving at night kinda sucks now. already driven next to a few cops who have looked over, and they dont seem to care. honestly, i doubt youll get pulled soley because of tints, kind of like not wearing seat belts, more of a add-on violation so to speek.

thanks for the input. i think i'm going to call around some more and see if i can find somebody to do it cheaper. maybe if i go to detroit.....
