I have a 94 ST. Thinking about adding a 200 W mono amp to my kicker 4 channel amp. Anyone have any issues with the alternator handling 2 amps?

How many watts are you gonna have total?
Do you have driving or fog lights? More than likely you won't have a problem. But even if you do it's not a big deal to fix. Also replace the stock charging system wires under the hood. The stock wires are barely large enough. Go with a quality 4 gauge wire. Finally if your lights do dim with the new amp added don't automaticaly go out and buy a capacitor. Caps don't fix the problem, they just cover it up. You can have your stock alternator rewound for higher output or buy a higher output replacement. |
