why bother to add that stuff if people know it's slow as dirt?

Why is it so hard to understand that some people DON'T WANT A FAST CAR? I got a celica and bought exterior mods because I want a nice looking daily driver. I will never drop a dime on performance, because that's not what I bought this car for.

don't lie to yourself. you know you'd LOVE a fast car

'looking cool' should have a two fold approach; it should look decent, and actually add to the performance of a car.

a 4 ft wing is for downforce on some extreme drag car, not for a honda civic. this is what i'm getting at. people add this **** to their car thinking it will help, when it just makes them look like a giant asshole that wasted some money on ebay.

if you don't want a fast car, then don't pretend it's fast by putting ebayed crap on it.

You don't get what I'm saying, man smile.gif

A lot of people buy certain cars, to have something nice, but they don't care if it's fast. I own a celica because it's a sleek looking car, and great for daily driving. I've spent $2k+ in mods, but none of them are performance. Why? Because I don't want this car to go fast, because I would be sacrificing reliability, gas mileage, etc. Now, being a speed freak, I will be getting an MR2 soon, and making it one mean machine.

So not everyone wants a car for performance, some just want reliability, fun, and good looks. smile.gif

imo.... rice are those cars that have stickers and neon and altezza lights and a huge aluminum spoiler... all of which add about 200 hp. and of course the bigger the muffler, the faster the car.

Whoa whoa whoa. You guys are getting off topic here. What you say is true. But the other guy is saying why put a huge ass wing on a front wheel drive designed car and all the weight needs to be on the front and not the back. I understand they want a huge ass wing but damn... thats overkill and pointless. That ain't nice. That's rice. laugh.gif

if you just want the celica to look "nice" and you aint no st88t r@c8r, then you gotta understand how to dress the car. ex: dont put on a fart can, dont over-do the stickers/decals, and dont put a bodykit on. And at that, you'd probably be a bit closer to keeping the ricers from revving and trying to race you. In short, dont make your car look like an "import tuner" or you'll get people revving at you trying to race, (especially the celica and its image) and when you do, you lose because all that cosmetic could've gone in the engine and this brings us back to the freakin topic of this thread.

And to the girl who made the thread about the g35 badged as a skyline, because in japan, they ARE badged as the skyline with the exact same engine. Its NOT like putting the gt-4 badge on our USA spec celicas because we dont have the 3sgte

very simply, I believe that everyone is entitled to their own taste, and ultimately your car should make you happy the most so do what you like... it's yours. However, automotive fashon is just like fashion in clothing, it updates itself. Somethings go out of style and somethings are never in style.

I wouldn't consider your car a rice car, despite the fact that it's japanese.

form, however, does not always follow function... and thats ok.

I dont think so. IMO Any time you upgrade your cars appearance using factory parts, I would not consider it ricey. Its something that you dont see everyday and its classy, so i say no rice biggrin.gif

All in all, if someone makes a replica (I mean exact) of a car that is somewhat rare. I like, and achkowledge the owner. If I saw a civic Type-R that had the same body parts/headlights/rims and color as teh real ones, hey, I like it, as long as the owner doesn't act like a moron. Because theres always people that likes a good looking car with taste, and don't really matter of performance.

If its something somewhat more common, like a V6 mustang looking like a GT, well, why don't spend the money on something you can ACTUALLY buy. lol...

There's never a sure definition of what "ricer" is. It's a matter of taste/belief and name-calling.

Everyone here on this board gave their opinion regarding their taste. There's really nothing to argue about. You just CAN'T change someone's "taste".

Personally, I think all USDM Celicas are little soft-core rice cars. And there is NOTHING you could do/say to change my mind.

Ricer is when you tag your car full of stickers that don't mean anything, a super huge muffler the size of your engine, and last but not least a bench on the back of your trunk.
