sporty camry? then that would make your car a sporty corolla since the 7afe was on there... im with mac, i love my st too... almost sounds like ure saying what you hear because a 5spd tc is actually faster than a manual gts. those cars have no torque compared to the tc and off the line, every race ive witnessed, the gts gets spanked. i hate to rank on any gen celica, but ure just hating on a car youve probably never driven or been in.

i didn't buy my car to win races, i bought it because it looked nice, was cheap, and i knew it would be reliable.

and exactly how is a 5 speed tC faster than a 7th gen GT-S? i've been in both, driven both, and i can honestly say that the 7th gen packs more punch than the tC does. the tC feels like i'm lugging around and it has no life, the 7th gen at least revs nice & goes like a raped ape if you keep it in lift between shifts.

tC has absolutely nothing to do with the celica, at all. it has an unimpressive motor, and doesn't have an aggressive look like the 5th-7th gens have had.

if anything, it's a sporty camry. in fact, the same motor is found in the camrys & solaras.

LOL... LOL .. sorry i really had to laugh at that one.. LOL .. LOL ... sorry .. LOL ok i think i have it all out of my system.. LOL... LOL.. ok i'm good now..

but on to other comments.. they tc is a great car for its price.. having owned a auto st.. now a 5spd gt .. an 5spd tc.. i have to say ... tc a much better starting base then the 6th gen celicas.. don't get me wrong anyone on these boards that know me.. know how much i love my gt... but i'm so happy with my tc right now..

ok

feel free to refute any of the comments i've made instead of typing LOL 8 times. so far, i've seen nothing impressive come out of the tC. i fail to see how it's a better "starting base" than a 6th or a 7th gen, since a 3s swap in a GT isn't as difficult or as pricey as trying to get any kind of performance out of a tC.

Ok first thing i'm comparing an ST-GT 6th gen/s .. this is how the tc is a better starting base.

tc
HP 160 TQ 162

gt
HP 130 TQ 135

st
HP110 TQ 115

As for pricey trying to get any kind of performance out of a tc.. LOL sorry had to light..
2400K for a Bolt on Turbo pushing the WHP to 260... now show me anyone that has done a 3s swap under 3k? I could post a ship load of performance parts for the tc..but. let me not finish that statement ..

well, if you consider this :

2400-2800 for a turbo kit

16,000 base price
tuning
new clutch
exhaust

you're probably looking at a lot more than 20,000 for a 250-260hp tC. to me, 20,000+ for a turbo'd scion just isn't worth it, but to each their own.

you realize that "tC" stands for "third car" right?
thats what the scion dealer told me
and i doubt they bring back the celica,
i kinda like that
cause now everytime i go to the toyota dealer, i get complements on how much they like my celica and how they messed it up when the 7th gen came out
but ya
tC = third Car

Well this thread seems to have gone a little off-topic. Please re-read the first post and submit your sketches and ideas for how you think a future Celica should look.

from toyotas mouth, i strongly believe tc is for touring coupe... definitely not third car. lol. thats pretty funny tho. xA, xB, tC. they used t instead of x because volvo already has rights to the "XC" name.

I am so glad you cant buy that thing yous call a tC here.
as for talking about it ???
i can ramble on about falcons, Commodore and the fastest little car i have ever ownd a TX5 for ages but it dosent meen much out of Australia.
In a 8th gen celica I would want a little over 200HP (celicas arent the fastest)
a longer car than the 7th gen (I dont like the short rear end)
but thats my 0.016 cents ($0.02 AUD)

You stand so firm by that claim because you heard it from a guy who works at a Scion dealer? That's alot of confidence in someone whos credentials from Toyota equate to:

"You like the way it drives?"

"Yeah, here's the cd player under this little plastic door."

"Well, it's only priced over the MSRP because so many places don't have the TC, you'd have to be on a waiting list anywhere else... so you should go ahead and buy it here."

That guy would do anything to have a conversation with you and that includes making **** up, so don't lay you're supposed facts on top of his pile of lies.

"Third car?" Seems a little generic, how about...

"Top car"

"Tasty coupe"

"Terrific car"

"Tremendous coupe"

???

-Yes, I am a crazy, it's finals week.

The 7th Gen GTS owns the tC especially the 6 speed. Been proven in our club since the 7th Gen guys got p-envy because they were not the newest Toyota car out. They felt they had to prove they were faster than the tC and they were right. I have witnessed many 7th Gen vs. tC races and the tC never came out on top. Never. Even a nicely modded GT can beat an equivalently modded tC. And my 6th Gen GT is waaaaay faster than my tC. Not opinions - fact supported by many friends who actually own/race the cars including a release series which is very sweet BTW.
BTW - I like my tC alot but it's not as quick [due to the weight I think] as the older gen Celica's. <= that's right I said it.

I second this. This is INDEED fact! Jason you just got lucky that one time. I told you and you know it. >:P laugh.gif

BUT STILL GUYS! TC = NOT 8th GEN. Sorry, stop trying to replace the Celicas with the TCs. Just not gonna work. I don't care what you believe in, if the maker says its not, its not.

its marketing exsane, you dont wanna continue to release the same old "celica" that mom and dad drove, release a sporty looking car with TONS of options (another current fad, like your drift desire). In essnece of the newer celicas, the tc is a nice 8th gen (not origional im sorry) but hey its still a toyota.

id love to see a v6 awd concept
would be siiiickky. biggrin.gif

ok... im going to say 2 things here:

the scion tc and celica gt-s are too similar. yes... stock manual vs. stock manual, the gt-s, by the "official" numbers, should win. i forget i live near a city called hialeah where 99% of drivers dont know how to drive. the races ive seen between the two, the tc comes out on top. the car's 1/4 mile times are very close, i believe less than half a second apart... id rather not argue back and forth about a race that really depends on the driver. even the same racers going back and forth will probably have a different winner for each race because the cars are very close. the celica gts vs tc is a driver's race.

the scion tc is the 8th gen. the celica will not come back and if it does, it wont be for a very long time. money drives these companies... toyota doesnt think, 'hey, lets tailor to these celica enthusiasts on 6gc and work on a celica to make them happy'. enthusiasts arent the only people that buy cars - the whole world does. i dont know how else to explain that, but if u understand business, you understand why toyota does what they do. a lot of people here take their decisions so personal. lol. u cant wear ur emotions on ur sleeve regarding the celica... its just a car. let me put it this way - the name is what it is, a name. if toyota decided to call the tc a celica, what difference would that make? we wouldnt be having this conversation. we'd be having one about how the 8th gen sucks balls or how ugly it is, the same way we do about the 7th gen.

in terms of what resembles the essence of what the Celica has always been, the tC most closely resembles that formula, but even toyota themselves stated that the reason why they stoped Celica sales in North America is because they needed a new direction that followed current trends in car sales, and thus the tC was introduced... How that equates into the 8th gen celica, I don't see it... It's like saying that the 2000GT was the first gen Supra...

LoL. You guys are saying the same old thing over again. The Scion TC REPLACED, I repeat, REPLACED the Celica. That doesn't mean !IT IS! THE 8th GEN Celica. Get your facts straight guys. LoL! The topic is on if there was a new Toyota car that ACTUALLY IS NAMED Toyota Celica that is coming out, what would it be like. The Scion TC is not badged with Toyota Celica, thus followed up what was just said on before me. Toyota stopped the production for the Celica. So that means, the TC is NOT a freakin Celica. It may resemble and replaced the Celica, but still not a Celica! Thus making it NOT the 8th Gen Celica.

Makes you stop and think doesn't it? LoL.

Few reasons why I believe the tC isn't the 8th gen :

1) There are no alternative models for the tC. There isn't a tC ST, or a tC GT. Almost every single Celica that was ever produced came in different makes, or a convertible.

2) Toyota officially dropped out of sports car production because they said there just wasn't enough demand in the market. If the tC is the 8th gen, and the celica is considered a sports car, why are they even bothering to produce it?

3) The tC isn't sold in Japan. Every single Celica that was ever produced, to my knowledge, was available in Japan. It is strictly a US model.

It's a decent car, but a Celica it doth not make.

In terms of how fast it is, well, I'd say it probably would give you a better bang for the buck in terms of performance if you were to boost it, but it still doesn't have the aggressive styling that the majority of the Celicas have had over the years. I'm sure you could change that with body kits, different stuff, etc.. But stock, it reminds me of a Civic Si or something similar.
