just a laptop under the passenger seat with screen removed for convenience.

not a bad way to go. easy yet pretty much exactly what you need. do you run a dc to ac converter or did you mod the cable to the laptop and make it work direct?

okay guys....i have a ibm t40 im going to put in the car. this seems like the logical way to go. but i have a few questions.

1. does this mean i will lose my option to connect and auxillary device? my zune im talking about. how will this work?

2. what do i do about he power situation for the laptop...i want to have it where the laptop will shut down saftly when the power in the car is cut.

any thoughts?

You do not want the laptop to shut down, it will take an hour to turn back on.... you want it to hibernate when the car shuts off....and it can resume from hibernation when the car turns back on.... You can control all of that from the power options menu in the control panel... its a little tricky so PM me if you're really interested, i'm really not sure what you're asking about in the first question, anyone want to clear that up?
